The domestic water has been shut down to Snell Hall until further notice while we repair a failed backflow preventer. This will affect domestic water throughout the building, including water in restrooms, drinking fountains and custodial closets.

Restrooms will be available in surrounding buildings during the shutdown. We will provide an update when the water service has been restored.

EH&S has asked us to remind building occupants that water will not be available to emergency eyewash/shower units, and occupants should discontinue all hazardous substance use (chemicals, unsealed radioisotopes, and biohazardous materials) for the duration of the shutdown.

Due to restroom renovations, a building-wide water shutdown will occur at Snell Hall on Monday, July 13. This shutdown will impact every floor throughout the building. Building occupants should prepare to be without water service for the entire day. Snell Hall will remain open during the shutdown.

The industrial and domestic water will be shut down in Dearborn Hall April 25, 2026 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm to replace bad sections of hot water piping. This will affect the industrial and domestic hot water in labs and equipment attached to the industrial water. This will not affect restrooms.

The domestic and deionized (DI) water will be shut down in Gilbert Hall on February 28th, 2026, from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm to make valve repairs. This will affect all DI water as well as water in restrooms, custodial closets, sinks & drinking fountains.

The water will be shut off in Magruder Hall December 28, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm to remove angle stops and install plugs. This will affect water building wide. Portable toilets and handwashing stations will be provided on-site.
