As part of the Withycombe Hall Renovation project, a planned power outage will impact multiple buildings in the area. The outage is scheduled for Wednesday, February 1st, from 12:00AM – 3:00AM.

The following buildings will be without power from 12:00 AM – 3:00AM on Wednesday, February 1st:

  • Withycombe Hall
  • Nash Hall
  • Gilmore Hall
  • Ballard Extension
  • Women’s Building

What do you need to do to prepare for this outage? Please make sure that all computers, printers, copiers and other electronic devices are turned off prior to February 1st, 2023. If you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well.

As part of the Pride Center Renovation project, SW May Avenue between Adams Hall and the Pride Center will be closed on Monday, January 30th from 8:00AM – 1:00PM for tree removal. This closure will impact the 15th St. entrance to the parking lot located on the corner of SW 17th St. and SW A Ave. However, all other entrances to the parking lot will remain open. Please see map for alternate routes.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, Washington Way between 17th & 26th streets will be closed to vehicle traffic to allow for storm drain installation. Pedestrian access will be maintained along the walkway on the south side of Washington Way.

Other possible impacts include dust, mud and noise near the construction site.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, east-west pedestrian access along Washington Way between 17th & 26th Streets will be rerouted at the 17th & 26th Street intersections. Pedestrians traveling east-west along the north sidewalk will be detoured across Washington Way to an ADA-accessible walkway. The north sidewalk between 17th & 26th Streets will be closed starting on 1/23/23 through the duration of this project.

Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the construction site.

As part of the New West Greenhouse project, the West Greenhouse Complex parking lot will be permanently closed. Pedestrian access to the north sidewalk along Campus Way between 30th & 35th Streets will be limited throughout the duration of the project.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, flagging crews will be directing the flow of traffic on Washington Way. The work zone will be moving from 17th street down to the Tennis Pavilion throughout the course of the day. Other potential impacts include dust, mud and noise near the construction zone.

All steam services will be shut down to Dearborn Hall, Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 6 am -4:30 pm.  This critical shutdown is necessary to repair a plugged steam line.  This will affect all steam services in the building including heating and hot water.  Building temperatures will be lower than normal during this time.

As part of the Pride Center Renovation project, construction fencing will be placed along the north sidewalk on SW A Avenue between SW 15th and SW 16th Streets. The fencing will create a minor obstruction along the inside edge of the sidewalk, while still allowing pedestrian access in compliance with regulations. Pedestrians who use this sidewalk are advised to use extra caution and be aware of possible obstructions. Please see below for a map and photo of the area.

Each year Facilities Services performs necessary maintenance on the university’s steam system, which requires shutting off the steam throughout campus, to complete maintenance services at the plant, throughout the steam tunnels and in each building.  This process affects hot water supply, heating, and all equipment that uses steam, campus wide.  The steam shutdown for 2023 will occur June 19th – June 23rd, 2023.
