Convergint will be conducting annual fire alarm & sprinkler testing. Testing will take place in the buildings listed below. The testing will be brief and include both sounding of alarms and strobes. As part of the testing building occupants may notice occasional beeping coming from the fire panel and horns and strobe lights activating throughout the building. Signage will be posted on exterior doors while testing is being conducted.

The domestic and deionized (DI) water will be shut down in Gilbert Hall on February 28th, 2026, from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm to make valve repairs. This will affect all DI water as well as water in restrooms, custodial closets, sinks & drinking fountains.

EH&S has asked us to remind building occupants thatwater will not be available to emergency eyewash/shower units, and occupants should discontinue all hazardous substance use (chemicals, unsealed radioisotopes, and biohazardous materials) for the duration of the shutdown.

There will be intermittent elevator service interruptions in Gilbert Hall Addition over the next two weeks to facilitate ongoing trouble shooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs to the elevator. During this time, the 2nd and 3rd floors can be accessed using the Gilbert Hall elevator and the Gilbert/Gilbert Addition sky bridges. All floors can still be accessed via the stairs.

Otis will be conducting routine elevator safety testing on January 20th, 2026, between 7 am -5 pm at Cordley Hall. Each unit will be out of service for approximately 4 hours. Signage will be posted on the elevator doors and call buttons while testing is being conducted and only one elevator will be out of service at a time.

Power will be shut down to the Western Shops and Western Building server room on Saturday November 15, 2025, from 6:00 am – 4:30pm to replace the failed transfer switch that feeds the Western Building server room.

This will affect power building wide at the Western Shops and power to the server room at the Western Building.

What do you need to do to prepare for this outage?

Please ensure that all computers, printers, copiers and other electronic devices are turned off prior to November 15, 2025. If you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well.

The industrial hot water will be shut down in Johnson Hall November 8th, 2025, from 7:00am – 11:00am to allow for mixing valve repairs.  This will affect industrial hot water building wide. This shutdown will not affect restrooms, eyewash stations, drinking fountains or fire systems.
