As part of the Community Hall Slope project, there will be a planned power outage impacting Pharmacy, Gladys Valley Center, Furman Hall and Hattie Redmond Women and Gender Center on Tuesday, August 8 from 5 A.M. to 8 A.M. Pharmacy will have backup power.

What do you need to do to prepare for this outage? Please make sure that all computers, printers, copiers and other electronic devices are turned off prior to Tuesday, August 8. If you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well. 

Employees scheduled to work when buildings are without power should consult with their supervisors regarding work schedules. For more information regarding work scheduling, please refer to the instructions regarding Interruptions of University Operations.

As part of the Community Hall Slopes project, the walkway located on the south side of the Pharmacy Building will be closed for handrail installation from 2/27 – 3/10/23. The ADA parking spaces in the south Pharmacy/Furman parking lot will also be closed during this time. ADA access to buildings in the area will be maintained. Minor noise impacts are also possible.

For work related to the Community Hall Slope Project, outside basement access at the Gladys Valley Gymnastics Center will be temporarily closed starting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 through 5 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022. Jack hammering work is scheduled on the first day of the closure to remove concrete.

The SMILE Program has been notified and will be able to access their office from the building entrance located on the first floor, west side near the Valley Library.

Gladys Valley Gymnastics Center

For work related to the Community Hall Slope Project, a series of planned steam shutdowns are scheduled. The planned steam shutdowns will impact multiple buildings located along or near SW Jefferson Way in the Community Hall Slope Project work area. Planned steam shutdowns are scheduled to start on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 through Saturday, March 26, 2022.

The following buildings are included in the planned steam shutdowns:

  • Callahan Hall
  • Gladys Valley Gymnastics Center
  • McNary Dining Hall
  • McNary Hall
  • Pharmacy Building
  • Wilson Hall

The following updates are related to buildings and facilities located in the Community Hall Slope Project area. The west side of the Pharmacy Building will be open starting on Monday, February 7, 2022. The area between the Pharmacy Building, Joyce Collin Furman Hall and Gladys Valley will be closed to all access with the exception of the ADA entrance to the Pharmacy Building. The ADA entrance to Joyce Collin Furman Hall will be from the East. Due to the extent of the construction, the exact ADA pathway to the Pharmacy Building will vary. These access updates will be in place through Thursday, September 1, 2022.

Community Hall Slope Project area map

As part of the Community Hall Slope Project, tree removal work in the project area is scheduled to start on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 through Friday, September 3, 2021. Additional work associated with the project is scheduled to continue on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, starting at the east side of Furman Hall.

Oregon State University began work in early July 2021 to update the area shown in this map image to provide access through this portion of OSU’s Corvallis campus for all people. ADA improvements related to the project will also require reconstruction of building entrances to Gladys Valley, the Pharmacy Building and Joyce Collin Furman Hall. There will be an open entrance to each building at all times. 

We will work to accommodate the needs of users working within the project area, but there will be disruptions to many day-to-day activities.
