As part of the Cordley Hall Renewal project, the building will undergo testing of the standby power, fire alarm and building air sequence systems on Thursday, April 20 from 5 – 9 a.m. Any equipment NOT connected to the standby power system will lose power during this time. 

What do you need to do to prepare for this outage? Please make sure that all computers, printers, copiers, and other electronic devices are turned off prior to Thursday, April 20. If you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well.

Other possible impacts include noise from fire alarm tests and minor air flow fluctuations.

As part of the Cordley Hall Renewal project, Cordley Hall will be significantly impacted by construction and maintenance work during OSU Spring Break week, March 27 – March 31. Contractors will be working on many of the building’s systems, including the HVAC and fire alarms.

Cordley West HVAC work: impacts include fluctuations in the building’s air flow and exhaust systems. 

Cordley West fire alarm: testing of building fire alarms will occur.

Construction activities on Campus Way: expect to see cranes on Campus Way related to the Cordley East project. Emergency access will be maintained. Pedestrian access will be available on the south side of Campus Way.

Fire alarm testing is expected to last approx. 10 minutes. Alarms in Graf Hall may be heard in other nearby buildings.

For work related to the Graf Hall renovation and Rogers Hall elevator projects, fire alarm testing is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in Rogers Hall. Fire alarm testing is expected to last approx. 10 minutes. Alarms in Rogers Hall may be heard in other nearby buildings.

As part of the Owen Hall Renovation Project, a temporary elevator shutdown is scheduled from 7 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 to upgrade the fire alarm system in the building. The first and second floors of Owen Hall can be accessed by using Kearney Hall and the sky bridge.

A temporary sidewalk closure in the area around the Owen Hall loading dock is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily starting Thursday, October 14 through Friday, October 15, 2021. A crew will be working on the roof of the building to install antenna locations for a DAS system.

Owen Hall area map

As part of the Nash Hall Elevator project, smoke detectors are scheduled to be installed on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021. Work is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. through 2 p.m., and will require the fire alarm system to be put in test mode. As part of this work, the fire alarm control panel on the first floor will most likely be emitting a beeping sound. This notice is intended to inform building occupants.

Nash Hall area map

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, new fire alarm system horns, strobes, actuators and controls for dampers will be tested. Fire alarm testing will take place on Friday, June 26, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., intermittently.
