10/20 – 10/24: SW 35th St. closed to all thru traffic

  • Local access for OSU and residents allowed
  • Emergency vehicles will be permitted in this area
  • Drivers should expect to encounter lane shifts and intermittent lane closures
  • Bicyclists will be directed to ride with traffic as needed.
  • Pedestrians may use sidewalks but should expect changes and detours – observe signage.
  • Any changes to CTS stops will be posted at the physical location and will be noted on the City’s website. https://www.corvallisoregon.gov/cts

Western Blvd: intermittent lane shifts and lane closures to accommodate work happening near SW Deon Dr. and SW West Hills Blvd. There will be a one-day closure at the intersection of Deon Dr. and Western Blvd. Access to The Retreat will be maintained via Sagebrush Dr. during the intersection closure.

Water shut-offs

  • Contractor will be coordinating shut-offs during service tie-overs with the impacted owner/occupants.

9/29 – 10/17: SW 35th St. will be fully closed to through traffic at the railroad crossing. Washington Way will be closed between SW 30th – 35th St. Local access for some OSU employees and vehicles will be permitted, but detours will be in place.

OSU Game Day, 9/26 – SW 35th St. will be reopened by 3 p.m. to accommodate Game Day traffic on Friday and over the weekend.

9/29 – 10/17: SW 35th St. closed at railroad crossing, Washington Way closed between SW 30-35th St.

  • Closures will be in effect at all times, including nights and weekends.
  • Emergency vehicles must detour around the area.
  • Local access to OSU facilities permitted, but with significant detours.
    • Western Building & Shops, Oak Creek Urban Center for Horticulture and UHDS – approach from the south.
    • Physical Plants, Biological Curation Building & Boneyard area – approach from Washington Way and cross SW 35th St. east-west.
      • Local access through closure zones will be permitted for OSU vehicles when traveling to these facilities.
      • No right or left turn permitted onto SW 35th St. from Washington Way. OSU vehicles must cross SW 35th St. east-west on Washington Way and then use SW 30th St. as a detour.

The city of Corvallis will resume work on a waterline replacement project on SW 35th St. next week. SW 35th St. will be closed to through traffic between the Oak Creek Bridge and the railroad crossing starting on Tuesday, September 23. Local access will be available for residents and OSU facilities, but no through traffic will be permitted.

  • SW 35th St. will remain closed overnight and during weekends.
  • Emergency vehicles must detour around the closure – there will not be room for vehicles to pass through the work zone.
  • Bicycle lanes will be closed.
  • The sidewalk will remain open on one side of street, but pedestrians will need to follow signage and switch sides as work progresses.

This is an update on a water pipeline and road improvement project led by the city of Corvallis. Work is expected to continue through September 2025.

Special update

Full closure of SW 35th St. at the Oak Creek bridge starts on Monday, August 4th. The bridge will remain fully closed to ALL traffic, including emergency vehicles, through Friday, August 22. A second closure at the railroad crossing at SW 35th St. and Washington Way is tentatively scheduled for the last week of August. Detours will be in place. SW 35th St. will remain open to traffic on both the north and south sides of the bridge, but no traffic will be allowed to cross. The bridge will remain closed overnight and through weekends. Bike lanes on SW 35th St. will be closed. Sidewalks will remain open.

Paving work will also occur on Western Blvd. during this time frame and traffic impacts in this area are expected. More information about the SW 35th St. closures will be communicated by Friday, August 1.

Planned projects for the week of July 28 – Aug. 1

  • Sidewalk ADA ramp work will continue at SW 15th St. and Western Blvd.

Traffic & travel impacts

  • Both SW 35th St. and Western Blvd. will remain open to vehicle traffic this week.
    • Lane shifts/closures will be in place to create work zones on Western Blvd between SW 15 – 26th St.
    • Bicyclists may be directed to ride with traffic through work zones.
    • Pedestrian detours may be in effect at the Western Blvd./15th St. intersection.
  • Changes to city bus stops will be in effect.

    • Lane shifts/closures will be in place to create work zones on Western Blvd.
  • Wednesday, July 23: traffic signal at SW 15th St./Western Blvd. will shut down and become a 4-way stop. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Temporary stop signs will be in place.  
  • Changes to city bus stops will be in effect.
  • Sidewalks may be unavailable at various times in this area and pedestrians will be directed to detour.

  • Bicyclists will be directed to ride with traffic through marked work zones.
  • Sidewalks may be unavailable at various times in these areas and pedestrians will be directed to detour.

In addition to locations listed in the previous notification, ADA ramp work will also take place at the intersection of Western Blvd. and Stadium Ave. this week, near The LaSells Stewart Center. There will be single lane closures on Western Blvd. in this area and bicyclists will be directed to ride with traffic.

  • Western Blvd. and SW 35th St. will remain open to traffic. Traffic will be limited to a single lane at times.

As part of the ongoing waterline replacement project conducted by the city of Corvallis, construction work will continue on SW 35th St. during the week of May 5 – 9. Please see below details and impacts.

  • Work will be continuing on SW 35th St., north of SW Sagebrush Dr.
  • SW 35th St. will remain closed to through traffic between Western Blvd. and Washington Way.
  • Local access to the Western Building parking lot and SW Sagebrush Dr. will be maintained during this closure.
  • Every effort will be made to keep the Beaver Bus stop at the Western Building open. If detours or bus stop changes occur, they will be posted on the Beaver Bus Route Changes page.
  • Changes to city bus stops will be posted at the physical location and will be noted on the city’s website.
  • On-street bike travel will not be permitted through the work zone. Alternate bicycle routes could include SW Sagebrush Dr., SW 30th St. or SW 26th St.
  • Sidewalks in the area will remain open.
