There may be excessive noise and possible exhaust fume odors associated with testing.  Each generator will be refueled after testing.

A crane will be working in the Women’s Building West parking lot, between the Women’s Building and Gilmore Hall, on Friday, May 23 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Parking spaces in this area will be closed while the crane is operating.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, the Washington Way north sidewalk and cycle track will be closed between SW 30th and SW 35th St. starting Wednesday, May 21 through Friday, May 23.

Pedestrians and cyclists may use the multi-use path on the south side of Washington Way as a detour through this section.

There will also be intermittent traffic pattern changes in this section of Washington Way. Vehicle traffic will be controlled by flaggers as needed.

Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the work zone.

Please note: this closure will occur in two phases.

Tuesday, 5/20: a section of the north sidewalk and cycle track on Washington Way will be fully closed at the SE corner of Goss Stadium. The multi-use path on the south side of Washington Way will also be unavailable due to a separate closure. For this one-day sidewalk closure, pedestrians will detour around the work zone via the closed roadway. Signs will be in place to direct pedestrians.

Wednesday, 5/21 – Friday, June 6: the work zone will shift to the roadway. Washington Way will be fully closed in both directions between the Goss/Dixon driveway and SW Benton Place (SE corner of Goss Stadium). The intersection at 17th St. and Washington Way will be closed. Pedestrians should plan to use the north sidewalk, due to the closure of the south multi-use path.

The domestic hot water will be shut down in Ballard Extension Hall May 20, 2025 from 5:00 am to 8:00 am to repair an angle stop. This will affect the domestic hot water in restrooms, breakrooms & custodial closets.

EH&S has asked us to remind building occupants thatwater will not be available to emergency eyewash/shower units, and occupants should discontinue all hazardous substance use (chemicals, unsealed radioisotopes, and biohazardous materials) for the duration of the shutdown

As part of the Jen-Hsun Huang and Lori Mills Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex project, SW 26th St. will be closed between NW Orchard Ave. and NW Monroe Ave. on Saturday, May 17 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The east sidewalk will be closed in this area. The west sidewalk will remain open.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, flaggers will be directing traffic on SW Washington Way between SW 30th and SW 35th St. on Thursday, May 8. Drivers should expect minor delays.

The SW 30th – 35th section of Washington Way will be fully closed to vehicles on Friday, May 9, to allow for final paving.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, the intersection at SW 17th St. and SW Washington Way will be closed starting on Wednesday, May 7 through Friday, May 23.

The driveway to Cascade Hall from 17th St. will be closed along with the intersection with May Ave. on the west side of 17th St.

The north-south crosswalk at Washington Way and 17th St. will be closed. Detours are available at SW 15th St. or the mid-block crossing at the Dixon Rec Center/Goss Stadium driveway.
