As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, Washington Way between 30th – 35th St. will be closed for paving on April 7, from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. The intersection at 35th St. will be open all day for north-south traffic. Expect to see flaggers in the intersection from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the construction site.

Pacific Power is scheduling a power outage to make immediate repairs to equipment in an underground vault outside student health. The outage will begin Sunday morning April 2, 2023 beginning at 5:00 am with an estimated completion time of 8 am.  Please see the list of impacted buildings below. These buildings will be closed to the public during the outage.

 Affected buildings:

  • Plageman Student Health Center
  • Weniger Hall

What do you need to do to prepare for this outage? Please make sure that all computers, printers, copiers, and other electronic devices are turned off prior to Sunday,  April 2nd. If you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well. The building will not have network connectivity during this power outage, i.e. no wireless, wired internet or VoIP phone connectivity. Anything that relies on the network will not be functional.

The exhaust and supply air in Johnson Hall will be shut down for maintenance March 30, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.  All fume hood exhaust will be shutdown, sashes should be kept closed. This will also affect heating/cooling of the lab spaces on the north side 2nd and  3rd floors of the building.

The parking lots south and east of Graf Hall (Lot 3221) will be closed for the entire day, March 30, 2023, to stripe the asphalt paving. No vehicular or pedestrian traffic will be allowed. Note that this work is weather-dependent; work will be postponed if it is raining. An updated campus notification will be sent out if this occurs.

As part of the Fairbanks Hall Renovation project, there will be a planned power outage from Saturday, March 25 through Monday, March 27. The new, permanent generator for the building will be installed during this time. Fairbanks Hall will be closed to the public during the outage.

Building power will be restored no later than end of day on Monday, March 27. 

Two Art Department reserved parking spaces will be unavailable during this power outage. Signs will be posted. Cars may be towed.

As part of the West Greenhouse Improvement project, a section of the westbound lane on SW Campus Way will be closed along with the north sidewalk on Tuesday, March 21 from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. The section affected is located between SW 30th and SW 35th Streets, just west of the greenhouses. Drivers should expect to see flagging crews in the area. Pedestrians may travel along the north or south sidewalk and then detour across SW Campus Way at the crosswalk located at the Seed Laboratory. Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the construction site.

The detour runs from the intersection with 30th St. along the south sidewalk of Campus Way. The route crosses Campus Way via a crosswalk at the Seed Laboratory and proceeds down the north sidewalk to 35th St. The second map shows a vehicle detour on Campus Way between 30th and 35th streets.
