As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, the east-west pedestrian crosswalk on the north side of the intersection at 26th St. and Washington Way will be closed on Wednesday, March 1. The remaining three crosswalks on the east, west and south sides of the intersection will remain open for pedestrians.

The intersection will remain open to vehicle traffic throughout the day. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic and assist pedestrians. Other possible impacts include mud, dust and noise near the construction site.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, crosswalks will be closed on a rotating schedule at the intersection of 26th St. and Washington Way. The work will impact only one crosswalk at a time, while maintaining alternate pedestrian routes in the other three directions.

The intersection will remain open to vehicle traffic throughout the day. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic and assist pedestrians.

The exact timing of each closure may vary, but the approximate schedule is as follows. From 7 – 10 a.m., the Washington Way crosswalk on the east side of 26th St. will be closed for north/south travel. From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., the 26th St. crosswalk on the north side of Washington Way will be closed for east/west travel. From 3 – 6 p.m., the Washington Way crosswalk on the west side of 26th St. will be closed for north/south travel. All other crossings will remain open when these individual crosswalks close.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, east-west pedestrian access along Washington Way between 17th & 26th Streets will be rerouted at the 17th & 26th Street intersections. Pedestrians traveling east-west along the north sidewalk will be detoured across Washington Way to an ADA-accessible walkway. The north sidewalk between 17th & 26th Streets will be closed starting on 1/23/23 through the duration of this project.
