Pacific Power has scheduled a power outage to set a new 45′ pole in order to establish new service for the OSU Ag building. The outage will begin Tuesday September 26th, 2023, beginning at 8:00 am with an estimated completion time of 3:30 pm. Please see the list of impacted buildings below. These buildings will be closed to the public during the outage.
Affected buildings:
• John L. Fryer Aquatic Animal Health Laboratory
• Smith Farm Fisheries and Wildlife Office
• Plant Pathology
• Vegetable Lab
• Vegetable Farm
What do you need to do to prepare for this outage? Please make sure that all computers, printers, copiers, and other electronic devices are turned off prior to Sunday, April 2nd. If you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well. The building will not have network connectivity during this power outage, i.e. no wireless, wired internet or VoIP phone connectivity. Anything that relies on the network will not be functional.

Update: 9/18/23- Water service has been restored.

Water service will be shut down in Kidder Hall on Monday, September 18, 2023, for an emergency repair. Water will be shut off for the entire building, including all restrooms. A second notice will follow when services have been restored.

Note: This is an extension of the sidewalk closure on the north side of SW Campus Way. The sidewalk will be closed until Friday, August 25. There will be a one lane closure of SW Campus Way on Friday, August 25 with flagging operations.

As part of the West Greenhouse Complex project, the sidewalk on SW Campus Way will be closed to pedestrian traffic between the Seed Lab and the west side of the West Greenhouses until Friday, August 25 to build a new access driveway for the West Greenhouses. In addition, SW Campus Way will be one lane only between the Seed Lab and the west side of the West Greenhouses  on Friday, August 25 with flagging operations.

As part of typical maintenance done by Pacific Power, there will be short duration impacts to the path of travel in various locations on campus on 7/31 through 8/2. The locations include:

  • Southwest corner of SW 30th Street and SW Campus Way
  • Southwest corner of SW 26th Street and SWCampus Way
  • On the east side of SW 35th Street, just north of SW Jefferson Way
  • Parking Garage Access and May Way Loading Zone – operations will be flagged
  • Multi-use path west of SW 26th Street, on the south side of SW Washington Way

There will be impacts to the access of the Parking Garage and May Way loading zone, as well as minor sidewalk access impacts.

As part of the 2023 Parking Lot Improvement Program, the parking lot north of Beaver Beginnings Child Care Center (parking lot # 3207) will be closed for improvements for the month of August. These improvements will, at times, cause noise and dust.

All steam services will be shut down to Dearborn Hall, Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 6 am -4:30 pm.  This critical shutdown is necessary to repair a plugged steam line.  This will affect all steam services in the building including heating and hot water.  Building temperatures will be lower than normal during this time.

Update: Repairs are scheduled for 12/20/22

Due to a failed component in the heat exchanger, the south end of Magruder Hall on both the 1st and 2nd floors will be experiencing cooler-than-normal temperatures. This will affect the heating for the South end of the building as well as domestic hot water. A restoral date is unknown at this time. Updates will be provided when they are available.

The fume hoods in Linus Pauling Science Center will be shut down for repairs to replace several failed motors in the exhaust fan system.  Maintenance work on the lab exhaust fan system will be from December 14, 7:00 am – December 15, 2022 5:00 pm.  All fume hoods will have low flow so they will be inoperable during this time.
