This notification is for the final stages of a waterline replacement project managed by the city of Corvallis. Please see details for each day below. 

Contractors with the city of Corvallis will be establishing work zones along SW 35th St. and SW Western Blvd. during the week of OSU spring break, March 23 – March 27. Workers will be grinding down the existing asphalt and temporary patches before completing the final paving and restriping. Work is planned to begin by 6:00 am and could run as late as 9:00 pm each day.

The closures will occur in phases as follows: 

Monday, 3/23

  • 35th Street – Closed to thru traffic between Washington Way and Western Blvd. Local access only for residents and OSU employees. Open at end of the work day.
  • Western Blvd. – Grinding planned at SW 35th/Western intersection. Open to traffic. The traffic signal at 35th/Western will be turned off around noon and traffic will be controlled by flaggers. 
  • Washington Way – Closed to traffic between SW 30th and SW 35th St. Open at end of the work day.
  • OSU Western Building and UHDS – SW 35th St. access from the south only.
  • The Retreat – SW 35th  Street access from Deon Dr. only.
  • City buses – No impacts
  • Beaver Bus – SW 35th St. stop will be open. Buses will be on detour routes. 

Tuesday, 3/24

  • 35th Street  – Closed to thru traffic between RR tracks and Western Blvd. Local access only for residents and OSU employees. Open at end of the work day.
  • Western Blvd. – Open
  • Washington Way – Open. Limited to right turn only from Washington Way onto SW 35th St. through the end of the work day.
  • OSU Western Building – SW 35th St. access from the south only. South parking lot entrance will be open. North entrance will be closed during paving.
  • OSU UHDS – SW 35th St. access will transition from south only to north only as paving progresses. Timing of this change will be communicated with you by city inspector.
  • The Retreat – SW 35th St. access from Deon Dr.  only.
  • Beaver Bus – SW35th St. and President’s House stops will be closed. 
  • City buses – No impacts

Wednesday, 3/25

  • 35th Street – Closed to thru traffic between Sage brush Dr. and Western Blvd. Local access only to residents, OSU Western Building, and Sagebrush Dr. Open at end of the work day.
  • Western Blvd. – Open to traffic.  The traffic signal at 35th/Western will be turned off and traffic will be controlled by flaggers. 
  • Washington Way – Open. Limited to right turn only from Washington Way onto SW 35th St. through the end of the work day.
  • OSU Western Building – SW 35th St. access from the north only. North parking lot entrance will be open. South entrance will be closed during paving. 
  • OSU UHDS – 35th St. access from the north only.
  • The Retreat – Access from Deon Dr. or from the north on SW 35th St. to Sagebrush.
  • Beaver Bus – SW 35th St. and President’s House stops will be closed
  • City buses – No impacts

Thursday, 3/26

  • 35th Street  – Open
  • Western Blvd. –  Closed to thru traffic between SW 35th Street and West Hills Rd. Open at end of the work day.
  • Deon St. – Closed at Western Blvd. (North and south side). Traffic routed through Ivy on the south side and through Sagebrush on the north side.
  • Washington Way – Open
  • West Hills Rd. – Closed to thru traffic at Western Blvd. Open at the end of the work day.
  • OSU Western Building – All parking entrances open, normal access from SW 35th St. 
  • OSU UHDS – Normal access from SW 35th St.
  • The Retreat – Access from Sagebrush only.
  • City buses – Stops on Western Blvd. between SW 35th St. and West Hills impacted.
  • Beaver Bus – No impacts 

Friday, 3/27

  • 35th Street  – Open
  • Western Blvd. – Closed to thru traffic between 35th Street and West Hills Rd. Open at end of the work day.
  • Deon St. – Closed at Western Blvd. (North and south side). Traffic routed through Ivy on the south side and through Sagebrush on the north side.
  • Washington Way – Open
  • West Hills Rd. – Closed to thru traffic at Western Blvd. Open at the end of the work day.
  • OSU Western Building – All parking entrances open, normal access from SW 35th St. 
  • OSU UHDS – Normal access from SW 35th St.
  • The Retreat – Access from Sagebrush only.
  • City buses – Stops on Western between 35th and West Hills impacted.

SW 26th St. will be closed between NW Orchard Ave. and NW Monroe Ave. on Friday, February 27 from 6:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The east sidewalk in this section of SW 26th St. will be closed. Access to the service entrances, trash and recycling areas at Johnson Hall will also be closed. 

Other possible impacts include noise near the work area.

Due to a project managed by OSU Athletics at Goss Stadium, SW Washington Way will be closed between SW 17th – SW 26th St. on Monday, February 23 and Tuesday, February 24. The closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days. 

The north sidewalk in this section of Washington Way will also be closed. The multi-use path on the south side of Washington Way will remain open as a detour.

Sidewalk repair work will be occurring on SW Memorial Place and SW Monroe Ave. starting on Friday, February 13 – Monday, February 16. Sections of sidwalk will be closed on the west side of SW Memorial Place between Kelley Engineering Center and Plageman Hall and outside of the Lonnie B. Harris Black Cultural Center. A section of sidewalk on the south side of NW Monroe Ave. will also be closed in front of the Lonnie B. Harris Black Cultural Center. 

Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the work zones.

This work has been rescheduled to Friday, February 6.

As part of the steam line repair happening near Sackett Hall, paving work will be occurring on SW Jefferson Way on Friday, February 6. SW Jefferson Way will remain open, but traffic will be controlled by flaggers and drivers should expect delays. The work zone will be located at the intersection of SW Jefferson Way and SW Sackett Place, between Sackett Hall and Austin Hall.

The north sidewalk on Jefferson Way will be intermittently closed. The south sidewalk will remain open for pedestrians.

Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the work zone.

This is an update to a previous notification.

The planned power outage scheduled for Wednesday, February 4 at Withycombe Hall has been canceled. It has been determined that a power shutdown will not be necessary to complete the project, so this outage will not be rescheduled.

The original post contained error. The planned power outage at Withycombe Hall will take place on Wednesday, February 4 from 5:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Please see the original post for shutdown procedures and instructions for February 4.

A planned power outage is scheduled at Withycombe Hall on Wednesday, January 28 from 5:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. The building will be closed until 7:30 a.m. All building floors will be impacted. Equipment connected to emergency power will be running on generators.

What do you need to do to prepare for this outage? 
Please ensure that all electronic devices not connected to emergency power are powered down and that all computers, printers, copiers and other electronic devices are turned off prior to Wednesday, January 28. If you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well.
