As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, domestic water tie-ins will be completed. Work will take place from 3:30 p.m., Thursday, June 11, to 12 a.m., Friday, June 12, 2020.

There will be no domestic water available during this time at the Research Way Lab Building. (Buckets of water to flush toilets will be provided during this timeframe). The building’s fire sprinkler system will remain online.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, a planned shutdown of the natural gas that currently serves the boiler room and two roof top units at the Research Way Lab Building will occur. The RTU’s are: RAC-3 provides heating and cooling to Lab 2038 area and will not affect any current occupants. RAC-5 provides heating and cooling to Lab 1169/1169A. With the warmer temperatures, this may not be an issue, but we do have a temporary work around for heating these spaces, should it be needed. This system should only be out of service on the heating side for approximately 2 hours on the day the subcontractor does the swap for this unit. The contractor will keep the 1169/1169A occupants informed on timing.

Research Way Lab Building map

As part of the Research Way Lab Building Renovation Project, the HVAC heat pump system will be shut down in order to upgrade existing equipment, install new equipment and commission the entire building system. This work affects the cooling and heating of building spaces. There will be no heating or cooling throughout the building for this duration. Temporary accommodations have been made for current building tenants, SIGA and the Keck Lab / CEOAS.

As part of the Burt Hall II Fire Renovation Project, a crane will be on site along NW 27th Street on Thursday, May 21, 2020 to hoist mechanical curbs onto the roof of Burt Hall II, and a flatbed truck will be on site with equipment curbs. This is for informational purposes only. Intermittent flagging related to construction traffic and occasional noise should be the only impact.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building renovation project, on Monday, May 4, 2020, the electrical sub-contractor, EC, will be shutting down the fire alarm panel from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., to re-route the existing fire alarm to make room for the new panel. Andersen Construction will be providing fire watch throughout the building during this period. Occupants will be notified once the existing system is back online.

As part of the Research Way Lab Building renovation project, crane work will occur to get new HVAC equipment on the roof. The crane work at the west side of the building will interrupt the normal operations of SIGA as well as the construction activities of contractors inside the building each time the crane boom swings over the building. For the safety of all involved, there will not be anyone allowed in the building under or near each pick location. Andersen Construction will provide onsite personnel to clear the building before each pick. (This work does not affect the SE CEOAS space).

Steam will be isolated to Cascade Hall and Adams Hall on Friday April 24, 2020 at 3 p.m. to accommodate construction work on the system at Cascade Hall. The system will be returned to service on Monday, April 27, 2020 by 3 p.m. This will only affect building heat in a portion of the building supplied by steam heat.

As part of the Fairbanks Hall Renovation project, the geotech company working on the project will be drilling test holes and there will be a drill rig on site. The site will be set up in two electric vehicle spaces on the west side of Fairbanks Hall.

Domestic water and fire line will be out of service from 8 a.m., Thursday, March 26 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 29. Water will be turned on sooner if possible. The sidewalk and roadway will be closed from 7 a.m., Wednesday March 25 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2020. Northbound traffic will be shifted around the work. Flaggers may be utilized if necessary.
