11/7/25: Scheduled Water Shutdown in Gilbert Hall Addition Basement

The domestic cold water will be shut down in the basement of Gilbert Hall Addition November 7th, 2025, from 6:00 am – 10:00 am to allow for water valve repairs.  This will affect water building throughout the basement in all labs, restrooms, breakrooms & custodial closets. Restrooms will be closed during this time; Restrooms will be available in the floors above.

EH&S has asked us to remind building occupants thatwater will not be available to emergency eyewash/shower units, and occupants should discontinue all hazardous substance use (chemicals, unsealed radioisotopes, and biohazardous materials) for the duration of the shutdown.

3/27/24: Partial Parking Lot Closure- Weniger Hall East Lot (#3222) 7:00 am – 5:00 pm

On Wednesday, March 27th, 2024 from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, the parking lot east of Weniger (view map) will be partially closed to accommodate the crane for maintenance work on Gilbert Hall roof.

9/27 – Gilbert Hall Elevator Out of Service

The Gilbert Hall elevator will be out of service effective Wednesday, September 27. Due to the need for repair and specialized parts, this is expected to be an extended service outage. A temporary, ADA-accessible ramp will be constructed on the east side of the building which will allow access to the first floor classroom. The ramp is currently under construction and is expected to be complete by Monday, October 2.

ADA access to the Gilbert Hall basement will remain available from the NW Monroe Avenue entrance. Access to the second and third floors will be available via the Gilbert Hall Addition across the bridge into Gilbert Hall.

The map shows an aerial view of Gilbert Hall with a temporary ramp location marked on the east side. The access bridge from the Gilbert Hall Addition is also marked.

Scheduled: Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Testing 7/31-8/4 2023

Scheduled: Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Testing

Effective Date(s): July 31st-August 4th, 2023

Convergint will be conducting annual fire alarm & sprinkler testing.  Testing will take place in the buildings listed below.  The testing will be brief and include both sounding of alarms and strobes. As part of the testing building occupants may notice occasional beeping coming from the fire panel and horns and strobe lights activating throughout the building.  Signage will be posted on exterior doors while testing is being conducted.

1/7/23:  Scheduled Power Shutdown-  Gilkey Hall, Gleeson Hall, Gilbert Addition, Dearborn Hall, Rogers Hall, Community Hall, and Milne Computer Center 6:00 am – 9:00 am

Pacific Power will be decommissioning obsolete equipment located in Dearborn hall on Saturday, January 7th from 6 am-9 am. Power will be shut down to the following buildings while this work is being performed, Gilkey Hall, Gleeson Hall, Gilbert Addition, Dearborn Hall, Rogers Hall, Community Hall, and Milne Computer Center. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

6/8/21: Gilbert Addition Fire Sprinkler & Water Shutdown 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

The fire sprinklers and water in Gilbert Addition will be shut down June 8, 2021 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm while repairs are performed to the backflow prevention system. This will affect domestic water building wide, restrooms will be closed and signage posted. Pull stations and smoke detectors will still be operational and so will horns/pulls.
