Due to required street tree pruning to provide necessary clearance for the new taller city busses, 26th street between SW Stadium Ave. and SW Western Blvd. (see map) will be closed January 20, 2026 from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm.  Pedestrian traffic and ADA path of travel will not be impacted, northbound and southbound sidewalks will remain open. Road may open early once work is completed. Detour will be 30th  Street to Washington Way and back to 26th Street.

Each year Facilities Services performs necessary maintenance on the university’s steam system, which requires shutting off the steam throughout campus, to complete maintenance services at the plant, throughout the steam tunnels and in each building.  This process affects hot water supply, heating, and all equipment that uses steam, campus wide.  The steam shutdown for 2026 will occur June 15th – June 17th, 2026.

Pacific Power has scheduled a power outage on December 30, 2025. Their substation operations team needs to perform routine maintenance on the transformers in the 35th Street Substation. The outage will begin Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm with an estimated completion time of 3:00 am on December 31st.  Please see the list of impacted buildings below.

What do you need to do to prepare for this outage?

Please make sure that all computers, printers, copiers and other electronic devices are turned off prior to the end of day on December 30, 2025, if you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well. Please ensure that all fume hoods are closed before leaving the labs.

The water will be shut off in Magruder Hall December 28, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm to remove angle stops and install plugs. This will affect water building wide. Portable toilets and handwashing stations will be provided on-site.

EH&S has asked us to remind building occupants thatwater will not be available to emergency eyewash/shower units, and occupants should discontinue all hazardous substance use (chemicals, unsealed radioisotopes, and biohazardous materials) for the duration of the shutdown

The domestic water will be shut down in Kelley Engineering Center December 20, 2025 from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm to repair leaks in women’s restroom and install isolation valves in basement. This will affect the domestic water in restrooms, café, drinking fountains and custodial closets building wide.
