The city of Corvallis is currently conducting a waterline replacement project on SW 35th St. and SW Western Blvd. During the week of Nov. 17 – Nov. 21, concrete and pavement work will be occurring near the intersection of SW 35th St. and Western Blvd. and in various other locations bordering the OSU campus. In addition, work conducted by NW Natural may be impacting traffic at SW 35th St. and Western Blvd.

All streets are scheduled to remain open, but drivers should be prepared to encounter lane closures and traffic pattern changes along SW 35th St. and Western Blvd.

Bikes may be directed to ride with traffic at times and pedestrians should follow signage regarding detours.

As part of an ongoing waterline replacement project led by the city of Corvallis, paving work will be occurring on SW 35th St. and Western Blvd. starting Monday, November 10 – Wednesday, November 12.

Paving will start on SW 35th St. at Washington Way, progress south to Western Blvd. and then west to West Hills Rd.

Streets will remain open and local access to OSU facilities in the area will be maintained, but drivers should expect intermittent closures for through traffic, detours and changes in traffic patterns. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained. Pedestrian detours will be marked with signage.

  • Full closure of SW 35th St. at the Oak Creek bridge starts Monday, August 4th through Friday, August 22.
  • The bridge will remain fully closed to ALL traffic, including emergency vehicles.
  • Drivers may use SW 30th or SW 15th St. as a north-south detour route.
  • SW 35th St. will remain open to traffic on both the north and south sides of the bridge, with local access for OSU facilities and private residences, but no traffic will be allowed to cross. The bridge will remain closed overnight and through weekends.
  • Bike lanes on SW 35th St. will be closed. Sidewalks will remain open.

Impacts on SW Western Blvd. for 8/4 – 8/7

Paving work will also occur on Western Blvd. during this time frame and traffic impacts in this area are expected.

  • 8/4 – 8/5: Western Blvd. closed between Hwy 20/Philomath Blvd. and the intersection with SW West Hills Rd.
    • Drivers should plan to use Hwy 20 to SW 35th St. as a detour.
  • 8/6 – 8/7: Western Blvd. fully closed between SW 26th and SW 15th St.
    • Drivers should plan to use Hwy 20 as a detour route. (see map below)
  • Sidewalk ADA ramp work will be completed at the Western Blvd./SW 15th St. intersection.

Special update

Full closure of SW 35th St. at the Oak Creek bridge starts on Monday, August 4th. The bridge will remain fully closed to ALL traffic, including emergency vehicles, through Friday, August 22. A second closure at the railroad crossing at SW 35th St. and Washington Way is tentatively scheduled for the last week of August. Detours will be in place. SW 35th St. will remain open to traffic on both the north and south sides of the bridge, but no traffic will be allowed to cross. The bridge will remain closed overnight and through weekends. Bike lanes on SW 35th St. will be closed. Sidewalks will remain open.

Paving work will also occur on Western Blvd. during this time frame and traffic impacts in this area are expected. More information about the SW 35th St. closures will be communicated by Friday, August 1.

  • Sidewalk ADA ramp work will continue at SW 15th St. and Western Blvd.

  • Both SW 35th St. and Western Blvd. will remain open to vehicle traffic this week.
    • Lane shifts/closures will be in place to create work zones on Western Blvd between SW 15 – 26th St.
    • Bicyclists may be directed to ride with traffic through work zones.
    • Pedestrian detours may be in effect at the Western Blvd./15th St. intersection.
  • Changes to city bus stops will be in effect.

  • Changes to city bus stops will be in effect.
  • Sidewalks may be unavailable at various times in this area and pedestrians will be directed to detour.

Impacts for the week of April 14th – 18th

  • Traffic on Western Blvd. between West Hills Rd. and SW 35th St. will be limited to a single lane and controlled by flaggers. All lanes will reopen at the end of each workday.
  • The signal at SW 35th St. and Western Blvd. will be shut down and become a four-way stop. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic. The intersection will remain open in all directions. The signal will be restored at the end of each workday.
  • Bike lanes will be closed and bikes will ride with traffic.
  • The sidewalk on the north side of Western Blvd. will be closed. Pedestrians traveling on Western Blvd. between 30th and 35th St. may detour around the area using the south sidewalk.
  • Access to local driveways will be maintained and signage will be posted to keep the Western Building driveways clear while the intersection signal is shut down.
  • Temporary changes to CTS bus stops are possible. See https://www.corvallisoregon.gov/cts for city bus information.
