This is a safety reminder for all students and employees traveling in the vicinity of Cascade Hall, Halsell Hall, Pride Center and the International Learning and Living Center.

The intersection at SW 17th St. and SW A Ave. is now a two-way stop. Please be aware that the Washington Way cycle track now extends down 17th St. to A Ave. and that two-way bike traffic will be entering and exiting the track at this intersection. Please be sure to follow signage and stay alert for pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles when traveling through this busy area.

Future improvements to this area are being considered to enhance visibility and safety for all modes of travel.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, the Washington Way north sidewalk and cycle track will be closed between SW 30th and SW 35th St. starting Wednesday, May 21 through Friday, May 23.

Pedestrians and cyclists may use the multi-use path on the south side of Washington Way as a detour through this section.

There will also be intermittent traffic pattern changes in this section of Washington Way. Vehicle traffic will be controlled by flaggers as needed.

Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the work zone.

Update on the Washington Way Improvement Project: SW Washington Way between SW 17 and SW 26th Streets will be reopening for all motor vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic on Monday, January 8. The active work zone on Washington Way will shift to the west and the street and north sidewalk will remain closed between 26th and 30th Streets.

Cycle Track Opening: as part of the project, a two-way, dedicated cycle track will be constructed on Washington Way between 15th and 35th Streets. The cycle track section between 17th and 26th Streets will be opening on Monday, January 8. Because the cycle track between 15th and 17th Streets is not yet complete, temporary pavement markings will direct cyclists traveling eastbound to exit the cycle track at SW Benton Place and cross traffic to rejoin the existing bicycle lane.
