As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, the intersection at SW 30th St. and SW Washington Way will be closed in all directions on Friday, September 27 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sidewalk and cycle track will remain open and flaggers will be present to direct pedestrian and cycle traffic. Vehicles will be detoured.

The City of Corvallis and OSU are collaborating on a project to improve the pedestrian crossing at SW 35th St. and SW Campus Way. A pedestrian detour and preliminary work have already been established in this area. A full closure of the intersection is currently scheduled to start on Monday, July 29 through Friday, August 9.

The intersection at SW 35th St. and SW Campus Way will be fully closed in all directions during this time frame.  
Vehicles will be directed to use SW 30th St. as a detour around the closure. Please note: the Benton County Fair will be held July 31 – August 3, which is likely to increase traffic on SW 53rd St. Please follow the detour signs and use SW 30th St. as a detour to avoid delays on SW 53rd St. See map below.

A pedestrian detour has already been established in the area and will remain in place for the duration of the closure. Bicyclists may use the pedestrian detour route as well.

  • Pedestrians traveling on the east sidewalk on 35th St. (approaching from the south side) will be detoured onto a temporary pathway and directed to the south sidewalk on Campus Way and may proceed east.
  • Pedestrians traveling on the west sidewalk on 35th St. (approaching from the north side) will be detoured onto a temporary pathway and directed to north sidewalk on Campus Way and may proceed west.
  • Pedestrians traveling on the east sidewalk on 35th St. (approaching from the north side) will be detoured across the Campus Way & 35th St. parking lot (B3), to the sidewalk on the east side of the parking lot and onto the north sidewalk on Campus Way and may proceed east.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, the intersection at SW Washington Way and SW 15th St. will be closed in all directions on Monday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 2 from 7:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. each day.

The intersection will be fully closed to both vehicles and pedestrians.

As part of the Jen-Hsun Huang and Lori Mills Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex project, the intersection of SW Campus Way and SW Memorial Place will be closed starting on Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28. The intersection will be closed to vehicle traffic in all directions during this time frame.

The north crosswalk at Campus Way and Memorial Place will be closed. The south crosswalk will remain open for pedestrians.

Memorial Place between Monroe Ave and Campus Way is already closed to vehicle traffic under a previous notification.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, there will be a long-term closure of the intersection at Washington Way and 30th St. starting Monday, March 4 through Monday, April 15. The intersection will be closed in all directions during this time frame.

Detour information

Please note: Washington Way between 26th and 30th St. is currently closed under a previous notification.

Vehicles traveling northbound: take 30th St. north, turn right onto Ralph Miller Lane and then proceed north on 26th St.

Vehicles traveling southbound: take 35th St. south to Western Blvd.

Pedestrians: access will be maintained through the intersection in all directions. Pedestrians should plan to use the sidewalk on the west side 30th St. This detour may be updated as the project progresses.

The north-south crosswalk on Orchard Ave. will be closed for pedestrians. The sidewalks in the area will remain open, except for a section of sidewalk on the east side of the intersection, directly in front of Johnson Hall. The loading dock north of Johnson Hall will be closed except for pre-arranged deliveries.

Bike lanes in the area will be closed.

This is an update on the Washington Way Improvement Project.

Washington Way Closed Between 26th – 30th St. Starting Dec. 18

Washington Way between 26th and 30th St. will be closed for construction starting on Monday, December 18 and continuing through the winter and spring 2024 terms.

Washington Way 17th – 26th St. Reopening Jan. 5

Construction activity between 17th and 26th St. will be finishing up over the next few weeks, depending on the weather. This section of Washington Way is expected to reopen by Friday, January 5. The two-way cycle track will also be opening and a separate Campus Notification will follow regarding the traffic pattern change in the area.

Washington Way & 26th Street Construction During Winter Break

During the period between December 18 and January 5, Washington Way will be closed all the way from 17th to 30th St. The north sidewalk will be closed. The multi-use path on the south side of Washington Way will be open for pedestrians.

In addition, the intersection at 26th St. and Washington Way will be closed from December 18 through December 29. The intersection will be closed in ALL DIRECTIONS. This is a significant change to the notification sent on 12/14 regarding this closure. The sidewalks will be closed on both sides of 26th Street from Washington Way to Dixon Recreation Center.
