From Monday, October 18 through Friday, October 22, 2021, Oregon State University will be conducting traffic counts at locations in and around the Corvallis campus as part of a code-required Traffic Operations Study (TOS), which the university is obligated to conduct every three years. While the TOS is a code requirement, the data gathered is very useful to long-range planning efforts. As part of the data collection, tube counters will be placed at 16 locations on and around the Corvallis campus. A map showing tube locations is included below. Tube counters allow the university to determine the volume of vehicles travelling on a roadway. Tubes can stretch across roadways, sidewalks and bike lanes.
Please use caution when operating heavy equipment and/or large vehicles over the tubes placed throughout campus next week. Tubes will stretch across roadways, sidewalks and bike lanes in the locations shown on the below map. While the equipment is pinned to the roadway, it can sometimes be pulled up when heavy equipment and/or large vehicles drive over it.
While tubes stretch across a roadway, counter boxes are located out of the roadway. Where there is a planting strip, the counter box is located in the planting strip. Where there is a curb-tight sidewalk, the counter box is sometimes placed behind the sidewalk and the tube stretches across the sidewalk. The university is working to set up cones at these locations, but please be aware that tubes may be present in the sidewalk at various locations.

You can expect:
A higher level of truck traffic on 35th Street and Jefferson Way.
The start of demolition of the metal Fairbanks Annex building will start this week.
A vacuum excavation truck will be onsite for exploratory work on Wednesday, August 4.
