This is a safety reminder for all students and employees traveling in the vicinity of Cascade Hall, Halsell Hall, Pride Center and the International Learning and Living Center.

The intersection at SW 17th St. and SW A Ave. is now a two-way stop. Please be aware that the Washington Way cycle track now extends down 17th St. to A Ave. and that two-way bike traffic will be entering and exiting the track at this intersection. Please be sure to follow signage and stay alert for pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles when traveling through this busy area.

Future improvements to this area are being considered to enhance visibility and safety for all modes of travel.

Due to renovation work happening at Hovland Hall, the south entrance on the west side of the building will be closed starting on Friday, September 26 through Sunday, February 1. The sidewalk immediately adjacent to the entrance will also be closed. The north, west and southeast entries will remain open.

Due to renovation work happening at Dixon Recreation Center, a section of the sidewalk on the north-west corner of the building will be closed starting Monday, September 29 – Friday, October 10. ADA access to Langton Hall will be available via alternate walkways between Moreland Hall and Langton Hall.

Construction work to replace a steam line between Austin Hall and Sackett Hall will begin on Monday, September 29 and continue through February 2026. The street and sidewalks will be closed in this area.

Building occupants and those in the surrounding area may notice noise, debris, equipment and other construction activity.

This is an update on an ongoing waterline replacement project led by the city of Corvallis.

9/29 – 10/17: SW 35th St. will be fully closed to through traffic at the railroad crossing. Washington Way will be closed between SW 30th – 35th St. Local access for some OSU employees and vehicles will be permitted, but detours will be in place.

OSU Game Day, 9/26 – SW 35th St. will be reopened by 3 p.m. to accommodate Game Day traffic on Friday and over the weekend.

9/29 – 10/17: SW 35th St. closed at railroad crossing, Washington Way closed between SW 30-35th St.

  • Closures will be in effect at all times, including nights and weekends.
  • Emergency vehicles must detour around the area.
  • Local access to OSU facilities permitted, but with significant detours.
    • Western Building & Shops, Oak Creek Urban Center for Horticulture and UHDS – approach from the south.
    • Physical Plants, Biological Curation Building & Boneyard area – approach from Washington Way and cross SW 35th St. east-west.
      • Local access through closure zones will be permitted for OSU vehicles when traveling to these facilities.
      • No right or left turn permitted onto SW 35th St. from Washington Way. OSU vehicles must cross SW 35th St. east-west on Washington Way and then use SW 30th St. as a detour.

As part of renovation work at Fairbanks Hall, the parking lot west of the building will be closed to allow for concrete pouring on Friday, September 26. The west entrance to Fairbanks Hall and sidewalk between the parking lot and the building will also be closed.

As part of the Jen-Hsun Huang and Lori Mills Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex project, a vacuum truck will be excavating the northwest corner of the construction site near the CEOAS Admin Building and Dawes House starting Monday, September 22 through Friday, September 26. Building occupants and those in the surrounding area may notice an increase in construction-related noise.

The city of Corvallis will resume work on a waterline replacement project on SW 35th St. next week. SW 35th St. will be closed to through traffic between the Oak Creek Bridge and the railroad crossing starting on Tuesday, September 23. Local access will be available for residents and OSU facilities, but no through traffic will be permitted.

  • SW 35th St. will remain closed overnight and during weekends.
  • Emergency vehicles must detour around the closure – there will not be room for vehicles to pass through the work zone.
  • Bicycle lanes will be closed.
  • The sidewalk will remain open on one side of street, but pedestrians will need to follow signage and switch sides as work progresses.
  • Any changes to CTS stops will be posted at the physical location and will be noted on the city’s website: https://www.corvallisoregon.gov/cts

The water will be shut down in Langton Hall September 21, 2025 from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm for a water line repair in room 0013. This will affect all water in restrooms, custodial closets, sinks & drinking fountains.

EH&S has asked us to remind building occupants thatwater will not be available to emergency eyewash/shower units, and occupants should discontinue all hazardous substance use (chemicals, unsealed radioisotopes, and biohazardous materials) for the duration of the shutdown
