UPDATED CLOSURES: Washington Way Between 17th-26th & 30th-35th Streets

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, Washington Way between 17th – 26th streets and 30th – 35th streets will be closed starting January 3rd, 2023. The north-south intersection at Washington Way and 26th St. will remain open.

17th – 26th Street: CLOSED 1/3/23 – 1/5/23

30th – 35th Street: CLOSED 1/3/23 – 1/20/23

Expected impacts include noise, dust and mud near the construction site.

UPDATED SCHEDULE: 12/27/22 – 01/31/23 Washington Way Between 17th – 35th Streets

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, Washington Way between 17th– 35th Streets will be closed for water line installation/testing and paving (weather permitting). Work is expected to begin immediately and continue in phases through the end of January 2023.

Please refer to the schedule below for exact dates and locations:

12/27 & 12/28: Full closure of Washington Way from 26th – 30th Streets, the 30th St. intersection (all directions) & from 30th – 35th Streets.

12/29: Full closure of Washington Way between 17th – 26th Streets.

Note: flagged intersection at 26th St. will allow north-south traffic to pass

12/29/22 – 01/31/23: Full closure of Washington Way between 30th – 35th Streets for water line installation.

12/12-12/16: Significant traffic impacts associated with Washington Way Improvement Project

As part of the Washington Way Improvement Project, significant traffic impacts will occur the week of December 12 through December 16, 2022, along and near SW Washington Way:

  • Monday 12/12/22 – The intersection of SW 26th Street & SW Washington Way will be flagged. Only northbound traffic will be allowed on SW 26th Street north of SW Washington Way to SW Intramural Way.
  • 12/13/22 – The intersection of SW 26th St & SW Washington Way will be closed for waterline installation.
  • 12/14 & 12/15 – SW Washington Way closed from 26th Street to 30th Street for waterline installation.
  • Friday 12/16/22 – SW Washington Way closed from 17th Street to 26th Street & 26th Street to 30th Street for paving. The intersection at 26th Street & Washington Way will be open.

8/18-9/14/2022: Multiple parking lot and roadway closures scheduled for Summer Parking Lot Renewal Project

For work related to the 2022 Summer Parking Lot Renewal Project, multiple parking lot and roadway closures along SW Intramural Lane are scheduled.

  • The Intramural lot (lot #3294) will be closed from August 18-September 9, 2022.
  • The N 16th St East lot (lot #3224) will be closed from August 18-August 31, 2022.
  • The N 16th St West lot (lot #3223) will be closed from August 18-September 14, 2022.
  • SW Intramural Lane will be closed between SW 30th Street and SW 26th Street for the duration of the project.

Summer Parking Lot Renewal Project area map

8/8-8/12/2022: Closure of west bound lane of SW Jefferson Way between SW 15th Street and SW Benton Place

For work related to the Community Hall Slope Project, a closure of the west bound lane of SW Jefferson Way between SW 15th Street and SW Benton Place is scheduled to start on Monday, August 8, 2022 through Friday, August 12, 2022. The west bound lane will be closed daily during working hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. A detour will be in place around the closure area to SW Washington Way and down SW Benton Place (view map). Temporary access will be provided during off hours.

5/23-5/25/2022: Temporary sidewalk & driveway access closure between Dixon Rec & Goss Stadium

For work related to the Washington Way Improvement Project, a closure is planned for the western portion of the sidewalk and driveway access south of Dixon Recreation Center and Goss Stadium along SW Washington Way. A contractor will be onsite excavating a trench to install new conduit for future relocated power.

1/10-1/11/2022: Additional full closure dates for SW Benton Place

For continued utility work related to the Arts and Education Complex project, an additional full closure of SW Benton Place is scheduled. The additional closure starts on Monday, January 10, 2022 through Tuesday, January 11, 2022. There will be minimal impacts to parking. SW Benton Place will reopen over the weekend before the additional closure starts next Monday.
