The water both domestic and industrial will be shut down in Crop Science Building September 5, 2025 from 5:00 am to 12:00 pm to replace angle stops in all restrooms, toilets & urinals. This will affect all domestic and industrial water building wide.

EH&S has asked us to remind building occupants thatwater will not be available to emergency eyewash/shower units, and occupants should discontinue all hazardous substance use (chemicals, unsealed radioisotopes, and biohazardous materials) for the duration of the shutdown

Please note: two pedestrian walkways crossing SW 30th St. will be closed to allow for work happening at the intersection of SW 30th St. and Jefferson Way. The impacted walkways are located south of Jefferson Way at Reed Lodge and SW Intramural Lane.

The chilled water system will be shut down in Burt Hall and Wilkinson Hall starting Tuesday, August 19 at 5 p.m. Service will be restored on Wednesday, August 20 at 1 p.m. Air conditioning and chilled water in labs will not be available during the shutdown.  

Other possible impacts include noise and dust.

The intersection at SW Jefferson Way and SW 30th St. will be closed to east-west traffic starting Tuesday, August 19 through Friday, August 22. North-south travel on SW 30th St. will be permitted, but vehicles traveling east-west on SW Jefferson Way will be restricted from crossing SW 30th St.

The south crosswalk at the intersection will be closed. The north crosswalk will remain open for pedestrians.

As part of the steam line replacement project happening on SW Sackett Place, a steam shutdown will impact multiple buildings in the area. Building heating will be affected. The shutdown will be in effect starting Tuesday, 8/19 at 2:00 a.m. through Wednesday, 8/20 at 11:00 a.m. This shutdown will allow a temporary steam line to be installed while the permanent line is being replaced.

The impacted buildings are listed below.

  • Hawley Hall
  • Buxton Hall
  • Poling Hall
  • Cauthorn Hall
  • Sackett Hall

Building occupants and those in the surrounding area may notice some construction noise associated with the project.

The west sidewalk on SW 15th St. will be closed between SW Jefferson Way and SW Washington Ave. starting Monday, August 18 through Monday, September 1. The closure is necessary to accommodate electrical trenching work happening in the area.

There will be occasional lane closures and traffic pattern shifts in this section of SW 15th St., but the street will remain open for vehicles.

Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the work area.
