8/1/23 Update: Kelley generator has been repaired and is back in service.

7/27/23 Update: A temporary backup generator has been connected to the building.

Due to a mechanical failure, the Kelley Engineering Center backup generator has been taken offline. This will affect any system in the building requiring backup power only if there is an actual power outage. Crews are working on locating a temporary backup generator large enough for the building until repairs can be completed. An additional notice will be sent out when a temporary backup generator is located and connected to the building.

As part of the Community Hall Slope project, there will be a planned power outage impacting Pharmacy, Gladys Valley Center, Furman Hall and Hattie Redmond Women and Gender Center on Tuesday, August 8 from 5 A.M. to 8 A.M. Pharmacy will have backup power.

What do you need to do to prepare for this outage? Please make sure that all computers, printers, copiers and other electronic devices are turned off prior to Tuesday, August 8. If you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well.

Employees scheduled to work when buildings are without power should consult with their supervisors regarding work schedules. For more information regarding work scheduling, please refer to the instructions regarding Interruptions of University Operations.

As part of the Valley Library Cell Tower Replacement project, crews will be mounting anchors into the Valley Library roof. This will create a loud, sudden, and repetitive firework-like noise during the time period. The noise will be audible inside the library as well as in the areas surrounding the library.

An example of what the noise will sound like is in this video. Public Safety is aware of this work. Please forward this message to anyone in the area who may be affected.

As part of the Student Legacy Park Resurfacing project, a pick-up truck and trailer will temporarily block the northbound lane on SW Benton Place, directly in front of the McAlexander Fieldhouse main entrance, on Thursday, July 27 & Friday, July 28 for various short intervals throughout both days. The truck will be picking up materials from McAlexander Fieldhouse and each pick-up will take approximately 30 minutes for loading.

Additionally, the loading zone and double doors on the south end of McAlexander Fieldhouse will be occupied during this project. Access to the batting cage door will be maintained. The west sidewalk along Benton Place and the crosswalk in front of McAlexander Fieldhouse will remain open for pedestrians. The southbound lane will remain open for vehicles.

The image shows an aerial view of McAlexander Fieldhouse on SW Benton Place with a section of the northbound lane in front of the main entrance highlighted. The loading zone near the south doors is also highlighted.
