As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, Washington Way between 17th & 26th Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic on Wednesday, March 8 from 12 – 4 p.m. The intersection at 26th St. will remain open with flaggers present to direct north, south and westbound traffic. Pedestrian crosswalks will also remain open. Other possible impacts include noise, mud and dust near the construction site.

As part of the West Greenhouse Improvement project, construction fencing will be placed along the north sidewalk of SW Campus Way.
The fencing will extend from the driveway west of the greenhouses to the western side of the Seed Laboratory. The fencing will create a minor obstruction along the inside edge of the sidewalk, while still allowing pedestrian access in compliance with regulations. Pedestrians who use this sidewalk are advised to use extra caution and be aware of possible obstructions.

A leak was discovered on the main water line leading into the Hattie Redmond Women and Gender Center. To prevent flooding and repair the line, the water was shut down for emergency repairs as of March 2, 2023, and will remain off until March 3 at 8 am. This shutdown will affect all water throughout the building.

The east-west crosswalks at 26th St. will remain open for pedestrians. However, pedestrian access will be limited or unavailable at the north-south crosswalks throughout the day. Possible options are the Dixon driveway crossing and the Gill Colosseum crossing during the intersection work.

As part of the Community Hall Slopes project, the walkway located on the south side of the Pharmacy Building will be closed for handrail installation from 2/27 – 3/10/23. The ADA parking spaces in the south Pharmacy/Furman parking lot will also be closed during this time. ADA access to buildings in the area will be maintained. Minor noise impacts are also possible.

The exact timing of each closure may vary, but the approximate schedule is as follows. From 7 – 10 a.m., the Washington Way crosswalk on the east side of 26th St. will be closed for north/south travel. From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., the 26th St. crosswalk on the north side of Washington Way will be closed for east/west travel. From 3 – 6 p.m., the Washington Way crosswalk on the west side of 26th St. will be closed for north/south travel. All other crossings will remain open when these individual crosswalks close.

As part of the Whyte Track and Field Center project, the parking lot adjacent to the track and the softball stadium will be closed from 2/20/23 – 8/15/23, except for special events. Pedestrians may access the track via an alternate route between the softball complex and the soccer field. Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the construction site.

The domestic hot water is shut down in Austin Hall for emergency repairs as of February 17, 2023. This will affect all domestic hot water building wide. The restoral of domestic hot water is unknown currently due to the repair requiring a specialty part. A second notice will follow when the repair is complete and domestic hot water has been restored.
