This notification involves a road closure and a detour for vehicles. Please read carefully.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, SW Washington Way will be closed between SW 26th and SW 30th St. starting on Wednesday, March 19 through Wednesday, April 9. 

The southbound lane of SW 26th St. will also be closed between SW Jefferson Way and SW Washington Way. No southbound traffic will be permitted through the area. The northbound lane will remain open. Southbound vehicles will detour down Jefferson Way. Signs will be in place to direct traffic.  

The west sidewalk on SW 26th St. will be closed between SW Jefferson Way and SW Washington Way. The east sidewalk will remain open for pedestrians.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, there will be intermittent, short-term delays on SW Washington Way between SW 30th – SW 35th St. starting on Wednesday, February 12 through Friday, February 28.

Flaggers will be present to direct traffic as needed. Any traffic delays should be of short duration.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, there will be short delays for vehicles followed by a short-term road closure on SW Washington Way between SW 30th and SW 35th St. This activity will take place on Wednesday, February 5 and Thursday, February 6.

  • Wednesday, 2/5 – Intermittent, short-term delays for vehicles to allow for unloading of materials and equipment.
  • Thursday, 2/6 – full road closure between SW 30th and SW 35th St. from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.. followed by intermittent, short-term delays for vehicles.

Flaggers will be present in the area to direct traffic. Other possible impacts include noise, dust and mud near the work site.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, the walkway around the sand volleyball courts at Dixon Recreation Center will be closed starting Monday, January 13 through Wednesday, January 15. The west sidewalk on SW 26th St. and the north sidewalk on SW Washington Way will remain open.

This is an update on the Washington Way Improvement project. Multiple changes are expected to begin on Monday, January 13 and continue for the next several months. Please see below for details and locations, including a new road closure.

Update – road reopening

  • Washington Way between 30th – 35th St. will be reopening to all traffic starting January 13.

Upcoming road closure on Washington Way

  • 1/13 – 2/28: Washington Way closed between 17th and 26th St. to allow for new steam line installation.
    • The 17th St. intersection will be closed; vehicles traveling north-south through campus should use 15th St. as a detour.  
    • SW Benton Place will remain open.
    • May Way closed to through traffic; delivery truck traffic will be permitted.
    • Pedestrians – the crosswalk at 17th St. will be closed; cross Washington Way at 15th St. or Dixon/Goss driveway crosswalk. Multi-use path (south side) closed from Goss Stadium to 15th St. Use north sidewalk as a detour.

Sidewalk/multi-use path access through approx. March 15

  • 30th – 35th St.: multi-use path (south) and sidewalk (north) both fully open.
  • 26th – 30th St.: multi-use path closed; sidewalk open.
  • 15th – 26th St.: multi-use path closed from Goss Stadium to 15th St.; sidewalk on the north side will be open.

As part of the Washington Way Improvement project, the north sidewalk and cycle track on Washington Way between SW 30th and SW 35th St. will be closed for concrete repairs starting Monday, December 16 through Tuesday, January 7.

Pedestrians may use the multi-use path on the south side of Washington Way as a detour.

This section of Washington Way remains closed to all vehicle traffic.

Vehicles traveling south on 26th St. may detour west on Washington Way to 30th St. or east to 15th St and continue south.
