Pacific Power has scheduled a power outage to set a new 45′ pole in order to establish new service for the OSU Ag building. The outage will begin Tuesday September 26th, 2023, beginning at 8:00 am with an estimated completion time of 3:30 pm. Please see the list of impacted buildings below. These buildings will be closed to the public during the outage.
Affected buildings:
• John L. Fryer Aquatic Animal Health Laboratory
• Smith Farm Fisheries and Wildlife Office
• Plant Pathology
• Vegetable Lab
• Vegetable Farm
What do you need to do to prepare for this outage? Please make sure that all computers, printers, copiers, and other electronic devices are turned off prior to Sunday, April 2nd. If you have an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), also known as a battery back-up, please be sure to turn it off as well. The building will not have network connectivity during this power outage, i.e. no wireless, wired internet or VoIP phone connectivity. Anything that relies on the network will not be functional.

Facilities Services be conducting a fire alarm system test in Linus Pauling September 21, 2023 between 6:00 am -7:00 am.  The testing will be brief and include both sounding of alarms and strobes. The sounding of alarms and strobes will be performed before 7:00 in the morning.

Street parking spaces along SW 16th Street, SW A Avenue and SW 17th Street will be closed between SW Western Boulevard and SW May Avenue to allow for curb painting and restriping work. The spaces will be closed from Thursday, September 21 through Friday, September 22. The streets and sidewalks will remain open for vehicles and pedestrians.

As part of the project, the parking space designation will change from city parking to an OSU B2 Commuter Zone due to the city’s vacation of these streets.

The map shows SW 16th St., SW A Ave. and SW 17th St. between SW Western Blvd. and SW May Ave. The parking spaces along both sides of all three streets are highlighted.

Update: 9/18/23- Water service has been restored.

Water service will be shut down in Kidder Hall on Monday, September 18, 2023, for an emergency repair. Water will be shut off for the entire building, including all restrooms. A second notice will follow when services have been restored.

As part of the Kelley District Utility Plant project, construction activity will impact the east entrance of Kelley Engineering Center starting on Monday, September 18. The east entrance area will be part of an active work site through mid-October but will remain open.

In addition, a section of the sidewalk along SW Memorial Place, directly in front of the east entrance, will be closed from Monday, September 18 through Friday, September 22. Pedestrians will be directed across Memorial Place to the east sidewalk.

Other possible impacts include noise and dust near the work site.

A section of the sidewalk on the west side of SW Memorial Place, directly in front of the east entrance, is marked as closed. A text box states that the east entry will remain open during the sidewalk closure. As part of the LaSells Stewart Center Mechanical & Roof Renewal Project, a section of SW Stadium Ave., located directly behind The LaSells Stewart Center and just south of Bloss Hall, will be closed to allow for crane activity on Monday, September 18 from 7 A.M. to 2 P.M. The entrance to SW Stadium Ave. from SW Western Blvd. will be closed. Both the east and west sidewalks on Stadium Ave., directly behind The LaSells Stewart Center, will be closed. A vehicle detour will be available from Western Blvd. along the east and north side of the LaSells Stewart Center East parking lot. 

The LaSells Stewart Center East parking lot (#3259) will remain open during this closure.

The map shows a road closure on SW Stadium Ave. directly behind The LaSells Stewart Center. The east and west sidewalks on Stadium Ave., behind The LaSells Stewart Center, are also marked as closed. A vehicle detour is marked from SW Western Blvd. along the east and north side of the LaSells Stewart Center East parking lot. The parking lot is marked as open.

As part of the Memorial Union Roof & Gutter project, the sidewalk on the north side of SW Jefferson Way, directly in front of Memorial Union, will be intermittently closed on Thursday, September 14 to allow for crane activity. The south sidewalk will remain open for pedestrians.

Additionally, the loading zone and 30-minute parking spaces on Jefferson Way, in front of Memorial Union, will also be closed.  The street will remain open for vehicle traffic.

The map shows a sidewalk closure in front of Memorial Union, on the north side of SW Jefferson Way. The area is marked as intermittently closed on September 14, 2023.

Nash AHU59 (air handler units) will be shut down to replace failed VFD drives for fan motors,  AHU59 will be shutdown from 6am September 19th to 4pm September 20th. This will affect air flow to the labs on all floors and there will be very limited heating or cooling during this time. Exhaust fans will continue to run but fume hoods should not be used during this time and fume hood sashes should remain closed.
