My name is Sydney and I am an Environmental Engineering student planning the 2018 Dancing with the faculty event. Within the last two weeks you received an email inviting you to participate in this fundraising event, and I am sending this email to inform you that the event has been rescheduled to May 3rd. If you would still like to participate, or couldn’t participate before but can now, please fill out this poll.
 
In case you didn’t receive the previous email, allow me to explain what Dancing with the Faculty is. Dancing with the Faculty is a collaborative fundraising event between several College of Engineering and College of Science student groups and organizations, featuring the dancing talents of students and faculty across both colleges.  The event will also include a performance from PowerChord, one of OSU’s premier a cappella groups!
 
The event itself is free to attend, however the attendees get to vote for their favorite dance groups by donating $0.50 per vote. All of the funds raised for this even will be donated to Relay for Life, a community based fundraising event for the American Cancer Society.
The event will now be taking place on May 3rd in the MU Horizon Room from 7-9pm!

The solicitation for the FY 2019 CCI competition has just been posted. This covers new Phase I proposals as well as a Phase II renewal.

There are two significant changes in this call (both impact Phase I)

  • The deadline for CCI Phase I prelims has been moved earlier – it is now in mid-August
  • The competition is open to all areas supported by CHE, with particular encouragement for ideas that align with NSF’s 10 Big Ideas

Meanwhile, the FY 2018 Phase I competition continues…we have some interesting projects that are under review. Those new awards will be public in late August/early September. We always hope they are public by the ACS Meeting.

Please share this news with your networks (and alert them to the new prelim proposal deadline!). Potential applicants have almost four months to get their prelim ready.

The President’s Commission on the Status of Women provides funding to faculty, students, and staff who are pursuing professional development, research, outreach, or creative projects related to women’s issues. Scholarships average $500. Whitworth University has 2 openings for benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track lecturer positions beginning August 2018.

PRIMARY TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary teaching responsibilities for 1st position include general, organic and biochemistry (GOB) for non-majors.

Primary teaching responsibilities for 2nd position include general chemistry lectures and labs.

Additional teaching assignments for both positions may include other lower division laboratories and courses as needed; a willingness to teach organic laboratories would be desirable. The anticipated teaching load is contingent on need but is anticipated to be 18-21 credit hours with benefits eligibility and faculty development opportunities.

Dear Oregon State Representative,

I am writing to let your students know about our new paid postbaccaluareate research opportunities. The SRF Postbaccalaureate Fellowship Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct biomedical research to combat diseases of aging, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Like SRF’s Summer Scholars Program, the goal of the Postbaccalaureate Fellowship Program will be to prepare participants for a career in regenerative medicine research. Under the guidance of a scientific mentor, each Fellow will take control of his or her own research project. Research projects offered will vary from year to year. Check the SRF Postbaccalaureate Fellowship Program homepage for the precise projects available this year. Training will also include writing assignments that will improve each Fellow’s ability to generate grant proposals, abstracts, and other scientific reports.
