Starting March 22, 2021, the service counter for picking up keys from the OSU Access, Lock and Key Shop is relocating to the university ID Center, located in the Memorial Union from its current location at 560 SW 15^th in the Facilities Services Shops Complex. This move offers students, staff and faculty expanded hours for key pick up at a more convenient location. Some important things to note:

• The process for requesting keys does not change. Key Authorizers are still responsible for requesting keys for a unit or department.
• The ID Center can receive key returns. However, we ask that departments continue accepting returned keys.
• Please check the ID Center’s website for current service hours. The ID center is running limited service hours due to the COVID-19 response. 
• ID Center staff will be unable to answer questions or concerns involving keys or locks. Questions about keys and locks should be directed to keyshop@oregonstate.edu.

We’ve posted a resource to help you learn more about the change in key counter service. All other questions, concerns and issues about keys and locks should go to keyshop@oregonstate.edu or facilities@oregonstate.edu (if a work order is needed). 

My name is Jacob Yeager and I am the Analytical Chemistry Branch Head of the Laboratory Division at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.  I am reaching out to respectfully request your assistance in advertising an entry-level chemist position available to your recent, or soon-to-be, chemistry program graduates.  Our laboratory team is comprised of 39 enthusiastic and dedicated professionals who support the US Navy and its essential mission by providing chemistry and metallurgy services needed during ship maintenance, repair, and modernization.  Our work environment is very positive, with a focus on personal growth and professional development and advancement, and we take great pride knowing that the work we do serves the defense of our families, friends, and nation.  We are looking to hire one chemist with excellent interpersonal and laboratory skills who share our values of service, excellence, integrity, teamwork, and ingenuity.

The position is in the Analytical Chemistry branch and will provide development opportunities and experience in the following:

·         Instrumental Analysis: ICP-OES and MS, Arc-OES, Hg via CVAA, CN via amperometric detection, and more. 

·         Prepare, extract, and test a wide array of matrices to various procedures 

·         Evaluate and review data/procedures and produce detailed reports 

·         Facilitate corrective/preventative action procedures to minimize QC failures 

·         Troubleshoot equipment in order to resume critical work 

·         Establish quality control requirements outlined in ISO 17025 

·         Plan, organize, and direct the laboratory quality assurance program 

·         Review and evaluate results conducted under the quality assurance program 

·         Participate in proficiency and round robin studies to demonstrate competency 

·         Prepare summaries/reports for improving the quality assurance program

The Department of Chemistry at Virginia Tech invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in synthetic organic chemistry, broadly defined, with expertise in synthetic methodology, chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, catalysis, green chemistry, natural product synthesis, or polymer synthesis, with an intended start date of Fall 2021. The candidate will be encouraged to participate in the Virginia Tech Center for Drug Discovery (https://www.vtcdd.science.vt.edu ), and/or the Macromolecules Innovation Institute (https://mii.vt.edu ).

A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field is required; the degree is required at the time of appointment. The successful candidate must establish an internationally recognized research program and be an effective teacher in graduate and undergraduate courses.
