$1.2Mil Transdisciplinary Research Seed Funding Opportunity
We are pleased to announce the launch of a $1.2 million internal seed fund program to advance Oregon State’s strength in transdisciplinary team-based research. Coordinated by the Office for Research Advancement in the Division of Research and Innovation, this program will catalyze progress toward the Oregon State Strategic Plan Prosperity Widely Shared, specifically OSU’s goal to become a university skilled at building transdisciplinary teams focused on big discoveries that drive big solutions.
Seed funding of up to $100,000 per award will support OSU faculty as they build transdisciplinary research efforts toward submission of large extramural proposals.
Matching investments from colleges and units are required. The funds may support building new transdisciplinary teams, scaling up existing transdisciplinary research efforts, and developing and submitting ambitious large-scale proposals.
Declarations of intent to apply are due on April 15, 2024 and proposals are due on May 15th. We encourage you to review the guidelines carefully and consider how this program can support you and your collaborators in developing powerful solutions to the world’s greatest challenges.

RERF Q&A
Division of Research and Innovation and Research Council are now accepting requests for competitive Research Equipment Reserve Funds (RERF) applications to purchase capital equipment through March 29. This session with Office for Research Advancement will outline this internal funding opportunity and answer questions on crafting a competitive proposal. Noon to 1 p.m., Feb. 26 on Zoom. $15K of funding available
The OSU Advantage Accelerator is currently seeking applications that describe technology-based projects in any discipline that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Proposals should describe a project that requires $15,000 or less of funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization. Each project may be awarded up to $15,000 and should span six months or less, beginning in March 2024. Internationalization Grant
The deadline for the 2023-24 Internationalization Grant has been extended 5 p.m., Feb. 16. Grants of up to $5,000 are offered for projects that advance internationalization within one of three tracks, aligned with “Prosperity Widely Shared”: Research and Innovation; Global and Intercultural Learning; and Career and Workforce Development. Eligibility varies by track but includes academic faculty, professional faculty, INTO OSU employees and student organizations. Full details are available on the website.
Scholarships available
Applications for PCOSW scholarships to fund FY24 projects are now being accepted. The President’s Commission on the Status of Women provides funding to faculty, students and staff who are pursuing professional development, research, outreach or creative projects related to gender equity issues. Administrative Program Specialist position open with OSU Chemistry
This position is responsible for providing support to undergraduate students taking chemistry courses, managing the direction of the Chemistry E-campus program and the undergraduate student program, and acting as scheduler for the chemistry department.
Minimum requirements: two years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist which includes administrative support for a project, program, or operation. OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of postsecondary education may be substituted for up to one year of experience.

Tenure Track Organic Chemistry Position at Hofstra University
Hofstra University Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in any area of Organic Chemistry to start September 1, 2024. Hofstra is located in suburban Long Island, NY, about 30 minutes from NYC. The chemistry department serves only undergraduate students, who are eager to be mentored and engage in research. Our best students matriculate at top PhD and MD programs. We offer ACS-certified BS Chemistry and BS Biochemistry degrees, and we also offer a BS Forensic Science. We are growing department of 15 full-time faculty and 150 majors, with resources to support faculty research and teaching. Significant startup funds are provided, and grant-seeking is expected. The teaching load is 3-2 and class sizes start at 40 for intro classes and shrink to 10 for advanced classes.
We have extended our search from Fall 2023. We invite you to identify candidates for this faculty position from among your graduate students and postdocs who have an interest in both research and teaching and encourage them to apply. A PhD in Chemistry or related field is required by the start date. Teaching experience, especially with a diverse population of learners, is highly desirable. Hydrocarbon Research: Proposal Submission Opening February 12th
The next proposal submission window for the ACS Petroleum Research Fund (PRF) opens on Monday, February 12, 2024 and closes on Friday, March 8, 2024 (5:00 PM EST).
Proposals must focus on fundamental petroleum research, including research related to petroleum-derived materials in one of ten specified subject matter areas. It is important to note that while the PRF Trust imposes restrictions, PRF currently funds various topics of interest in sustainability and green chemistry. These topics include new catalysts and the upgrading/utilization of methane and carbon dioxide. For more information on supported research areas or eligibility, interested individuals are encouraged to contact a PRF program officer or prfinfo@acs.org.
Grant programs are available for new professors starting their first tenure track position (DNI), as well as established tenured or tenure-track professors exploring a new research direction (ND) at doctoral degree granting departments. Separate grant programs exist for qualified professors in non-doctoral departments (UNI, UR). Departments of successful UR and UNI grant applications will be invited to apply for a competitive $25,000 supplement funds. Supplements aim to enhance research activities, capabilities, and engagement at the department. Applications are made through a web-based portal, and additional information can be found at www.acsprf.org.
