The Department of Chemistry at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Organic Chemistry, starting September 16, 2025, at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates of higher ranks may be considered depending upon their qualifications and the needs of the department. We are seeking candidates who are interested in developing an innovative research program in some aspect of experimental organic chemistry, broadly defined, with expectations of positive impacts in an area of strategic interest to OSU (i.e., climate science and related solutions, clean energy technology and related solutions, robotics, integrated health and biotechnology, see https://leadership.oregonstate.edu/strategic-plan). Modern laboratory space designed for the pursuit of organic chemistry-related research is available to support this position as are world-class analytical facilities (including NMR, MS, XRD) with trained staff.
The proposed research program should possess the possibility of garnering national and international recognition and the likelihood of receiving sustained external grant support. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses in Organic Chemistry at both undergraduate and graduate levels and to make contributions to our laboratory-based Experimental Chemistry courses. Furthermore, the appointee shall fulfill working, teaching, and mentoring responsibilities in ways that provide equity and inclusivity for all students, faculty, and staff at OSU. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
