The College of Natural and Health Sciences invites applications for the position of Associate / Full Professor in Organic Chemistry (tenure-eligible).  This position carries faculty responsibilities in teaching within the organic chemistry curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels, operation of a nationally recognized, externally funded research program in any field of Organic Chemistry, and service responsibilities at the department, college, university and professional levels. The successful candidate will also serve as Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, with reassignment of 12-credit hours of their academic-year workload and a 1.5-month (half-time) appointment in the summer. The candidate will have documented leadership and management skills, work collaboratively with the department’s faculty and report to the Dean of the College of Natural and Health Sciences. As the chief academic and administrative officer for the Department, the Chair provides leadership in the development and oversight of instructional programs, research, and service commitments in the department and assumes responsibility for administration, budgetary coordination, faculty/staff hiring and evaluations, professional development, community advancement, facilitation of the acquisition of external funding, and assuring adherence to university and college policies and procedures.
