Oregon State University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. As part of the ongoing accreditation process, OSU is scheduled to submit a “Year Seven Self-Evaluation Report” to the NWCCU and host a site visit of peer evaluators from April 15-17, 2019. Accreditation by the NWCCU represents the commission’s judgment that an institution is satisfactorily achieving its mission and educational purposes and that it meets or exceed the commission’s standards of quality and effectiveness. OSU has been continuously accredited by the NWCCU since 1924, having been most recently reaffirmed Spring 2011. As part of the review process, OSU invites the public to send comments regard the institution’s qualification for accreditation and/or its efforts to achieve mission fulfillment directly to the NWCCU. Oregon Sea Grant invites researchers affiliated with any Oregon institution of higher education to submit pre-proposals for two-year research projects. These projects should address cutting-edge, socioeconomic and biophysical science related to important marine and coastal issues. The President’s Commission on the Status of Women provides funding to OSU community members who are pursuing professional development, research, outreach, or creative projects related to women’s issues. Scholarships average $300 and are paid by reimbursement. The Office for Research Development is requesting letters of intent for the National Science Foundation (NSF) – Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC) 2019 program.  Research Office Letter of Intent deadline is Jan. 25, 2019, 5 p.m. Agency deadline for preliminary proposal is June 24.

The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has invited OSU to nominate two candidates for the Moore Inventor Fellowship, moore-inventor-fellows-2019-guidelines-final-1.pdf. Each college may submit a maximum of two candidates for consideration. Research Office Letter of Intent deadline is Monday, Jan. 14, 5 p.m.

Learn how you can support and engage with undergraduate students, and share your own research, discoveries, innovations and interventions that bolster student success at the 2019 Undergraduate Student Success Summit. The summit will focus on the priority areas identified in the USSI Report, with an emphasis on supporting students’ transition to Oregon State University.

The summit will make the greatest impact when we hear from faculty and staff who are positively influencing student success. Presenters may give a five- to seven-minute talk, present for a 45-minute session or showcase work on a poster. You can also get involved by facilitating a small group discussion. Please submit
your proposal by Jan. 28.
