Community Engagement & Leadershipinvites you to “Fall Into Service” with us on Saturday, Sept. 24. Fall Into Service provides OSU community members with an opportunity to kick off the academic year engaged in our community. Students, faculty, staff and their partners and children are all invited to participate in this event. A light breakfast, snacks, lunch and transportation to the service projects will be provided to volunteers. Register today at beav.es/cel.

Three times per year, the OSU Advantage Accelerator seeks technology-based projects in any discipline that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Projects should require $15,000 or less of Accelerator Innovation and Development (AID) funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization.

Applicant teams who are selected for an AID award will receive up to $15,000 of funding for R&D activities as outlined in the project budget and scope of work. Accepting the funds requires the team’s successful participation in the hybrid Accelerate program. AID project durations are typically six to nine months.

The Fall RFP application is open through September 20th. We will announce the Winter RFP on this page in November.

The Inclusive STEM Teaching Project, a NSF Improving Undergraduate STEM Education program, is hosting the free six-week Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from October 3 – November 22, 2022 via edX.

The Inclusive STEM Teaching Project community has now grown to over 6,000 faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and staff, and we hope to see that growth continue.

By participating in this course, participants will learn how to:

  • Advance awareness, self-efficacy, and ability to cultivate inclusive classroom environments;
  • Support development as a reflective, inclusive practitioner;
  • Engage in reflection and discussion around topics of equity and inclusion across a variety of institutional contexts;
  • Implement inclusive teaching methods in classes which will remove common barriers and enhance learning in STEM for all students.

Here is the registration link for our fall session, as well as our course flyer and 1-pager.

I am a Professor in the Department of Horticulture (College of Agricultural Sciences) here at OSU. My research focuses on honey bee health. We are in the process of designing a research study to understand the properties (crystallization etc.) and fate of oxalic acid dehydrate when it is vaporized inside honey bee hives for controlling a parasite called Varroa mite. I am looking for a faculty in your department that we could collaborate with on this study. Could you please let me know if you or any other faculty would be able to assist us. I will be happy to provide you more details about this study either over the phone or in person.

Appreciate your help.

Best,

Ramesh
