We provide college students with paid summer internships, increasing participants’ understanding of career pathways at the county.
Eligibility
- 18 years or older. A few positions are 21 or older. (See position descriptions).
- Must reside in Oregon or Washington during employment
- Proof of employment eligibility in the United States.
- Currently enrolled undergraduate college student
- Going into Sophomore year, Junior, Senior, or one year removed from graduation.
- Graduate students could be eligible if one year removed from undergraduate.
- Depending upon the assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check.
Position Descriptions
Candidates may apply for up to three positions. Candidates may be selected for an interview based on their cover letter and resume. Interviews will take place during the month of April and May. Internships begin during the month June, depending on the candidate availability

- Auditor’s Office – Hotline Community Engagement Internship – (Communications/Project Management)
- Office of Community Involvement – Community Engagement Internship
- Emergency Management Internship – (Communications/Project Management)
- Library – North Portland Library Internship – (Communications/Project Management)
- Homeless Services Department (HSD), HSD – Community Engagement Internship (Project Management/Social Services)
- DCHS – Workplace Wellness Internship – (Social Services)
- Health – Officer Internship – (STEM)
- Health – Data Analytics Team Analyst Internship – Multiple Positions (two) – (Project Management)
- Health – Environmental Health Community Outreach Internship – (STEM)
- Health – Public Health Infrastructure Grant Internship – (STEM/Project Management)
- Health – Public Health Infrastructure Grant Workforce and Accreditation Internship – (STEM/Project Management)
