EbscoHost has purchased the ABC-Clio databases America: History and Life and Historical Abstracts. These databases are now available on the Ebsco platform. They will continue to be available on the ABC-Clio platform until December 31, 2007.

America: History & Life is the definitive index of literature covering the history and culture of the United States and Canada, from prehistory to the present. With indexing for 1,700 journals from 1964 to present, this database is the most important bibliographic reference tool for students and scholars of U.S. and Canadian history. Strong English-language journal coverage is balanced by an international perspective on topics and events, including abstracts in English of articles published in more than 40 languages. It is currently available on the ABC-Clio and Ebsco platforms.

Historical Abstracts is an exceptional resource that covers the history of the world (excluding the United States and Canada) from 1450 to the present, including world history, military history, women’s history, history of education, and more – essential for libraries supporting upper-division and graduate research. This authoritative database provides indexing of more than 1,700 academic historical journals in over 40 languages back to 1955. It is currently available on the ABC-Clio and Ebsco platforms.

The Anthropological Literature database has moved to the FirstSearch platform. The new URL is http://0-newfirstsearch.oclc.org.oasis.oregonstate.edu/fsip?autho=100323354.

Anthropological Literature is a bibliographic index to articles and essays on anthropology and archaeology, including art history, demography, economics, psychology, and religious studies. Updated quarterly, Anthropological Literature indexes articles two or more pages long in works published in English and other European languages from the 19th century to the present.

A trial has been set up for the SimplyMap database. SimplyMap is an Internet-based mapping application that enables users to develop interactive thematic maps and reports using thousands of demographic, business, and marketing data variables. The trial will run through October 31, 2007.

You will need to create a personal workspace to use the database during the trial. Instructions are on the home page of the database.

EconLit is a bibliographic database that provides indexing and abstracting to over 400 journals, plus books, dissertations and working papers in economics. It is a reliable source of citations and abstracts to economic research dating back to 1969. It provides indexing to all fields of economics, including capital markets, country studies, econometrics, economic forecasting, environmental economics, government regulations, labor economics, monetary theory, urban economics and much more. EconLit uses the JEL classification system and controlled vocabulary of keywords to index six types of records: journal articles, books, collective volume articles, dissertations, working papers, and full text book reviews from the Journal of Economic Literature.
