About the TCCA Summer Intern Program: 

Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA)’s Summer Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program for graduate and undergraduate students to join the Tillamook team to connect to our 115-year-old heritage. Our interns play a significant role in solving real-world business challenges and enjoy bites of our ice cream, cheese and beloved dairy products every step of the way. As a farmer-owned cooperative, we invite interns to visit the farms of our farmer-owners so they can see what cow care, environmental stewardship and the daily operations of a dairy farm look like, up close.  In addition to the farm tour, we host multiple enriching experiences throughout the duration of the program, that include being an honorary Tillamook taste bud for the day with our immersive cheese and ice cream tastings, “college-inspired” cooking class with our executive chef, resume & interview workshop, sales market tours and so much more!

What you will do:

Our Plant Safety intern will continue the work of our previous safety intern with our Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) placards as well as some Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) focused projects for the entire plant.

Here’s a day in the life:

  • Participation in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Learn about hazard identification and behavior-based safety systems.
  • Assist with Management of change projects in the facility.
  • Contributing to a successful safety committee.
  • Attend required meetings to help drive a strong safety culture. 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or masters program and not due to graduate the semester prior to the internship
  • Currently studying Safety, Public Health or any manufacturing related field

You will serve as an analyst and resource for the Water Quality Permit Compliance Program. You will be responsible for collaborating with compliance staff statewide to determine permit compliance program needs. You will be responsible for organizing and updating guidelines and information tools to support operation and implementation of the permit compliance program, including program communication and marketing. In addition, you will support and coordinate reporting data to EPA and provide overall assistance to the program for keeping guidance, manuals, and forms up-to-date.

As a Community Disaster Program Specialist, you will guide, lead and support teams of trained volunteers to deliver comfort and care in times of disaster. You will also create and maintain a foundation of continuous and robust volunteer engagement using established processes and collaborating with volunteer services staff. You will work with volunteers to ensure that the communities you serve are ready to respond to disasters.

Join us in meeting the needs of continuous disaster response! Regional disaster employees are required to deploy to disaster relief operations outside of their region at a minimum of once a year. Deployments contribute to skill building, career development and exposure to different types of disasters. Allowances may be provided for personal circumstances and local response activity.   • Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for the implementation of volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming as well as ensure disaster cycle services are delivered in a rapid, accessible, and equitable manner, both culturally and linguistically, to meet the urgent, disaster-caused needs of our clients, with a focus on frontline communities.
  • Support the Program: Assist with the successful implementation of either specific disaster cycle services program activities, or a specific disaster cycle services function within an assigned geographic area.
  • Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers who are the primary workforce, and representative of the communities they serve, both culturally and linguistically.
  • Engage Community: Support local efforts to prepare and mobilize communities and engage partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies.
  • Manage in a Matrix: Implement plans to meet assigned targets for volunteer engagement and volunteer-led Disaster Action Team response to local home fires or support specific function tasks within assigned geographic area.
  • Know Your Communities: Act as the local point of contact for partners and communities. Partner with local organizations and leaders supporting frontline communities and community resiliency before, during and after disasters.
  • Ready to Respond: Participate in disaster response operations in the region in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations, upon completion of training requirements.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The position is responsible for helping to research, capture,
organize, and carry out Benton County’s efforts to calculate our carbon footprint, as well as explore and
implement policies and actions to reduce greenhouse emissions. Activities for the position focus on calculating carbon emissions, but also include exploring methods to improve resource efficiency, researching emerging technologies and analytical tools, and engaging staff on sustainability practices.
SUPERVISION: Intern will work under the guidance of the Benton County Sustainability Coordinator III
within the Board of Commissioners Office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties will include assisting staff to:

  • Calculate the County’s carbon emissions inventory;
  • Research carbon emission reduction estimates and carbon sequestration;
  • Provide analyses of options in the County’s Climate Action Plan, which includes identifying innovative
    strategies, goals, and tracking measures;
  • Develop presentation and education materials for County leadership, staff, and the general public on
    climate change;
  • Update the County’s Climate Change websites (training will be provided) with educational materials,
    status of carbon emissions and goals, and related information; and,
  • As time permits, coordinate with staff in the Board of Commissioners Office and other County
    Departments to help support work on additional projects, initiatives, and/or policies.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient in MS Excel or experienced in data entry and management. Reasonable knowledge of and/or

Position Overview

The Bilingual Agricultural Safety Trainer holds a pivotal role in providing mandatory Oregon OSHA safety training to agricultural employers in Oregon. The primary focus is to enhance and uphold employee safety and health standards within agricultural operations. The role necessitates proficiency in adult training techniques, expertise in Oregon OSHA-OAR Chapter 437 as the “Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Code, Division 4 (Agriculture) regulations. Additionally, an in-depth understanding of pertinent regulations concerning non-discrimination, non-harassment, and non- retaliation is critical.

Ongoing business development and recruitment will also be a key part of this position. Other aspects of the job will likely include meeting regularly and working with designated County Farm Bureau organizations on a variety of issues and other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position with FLSA exempt status.

Reports To: This position reports to the Membership and Organizational Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting regular safety training sessions for employees, crew leaders, and supervisors in compliance with Oregon OSHA Division 4 regulations, conducted in both English and Spanish.
  • Assistance with resolution of personnel-related problems and resolution of other labor related issues.
  • Developing and customizing training materials, including adaptation of Oregon OSHA Division 4 resources, to meet safety training requirements in both English and Spanish.
  • Vigilantly monitoring updates to regulations affecting safety and health in the Oregon agricultural sector to maintain an up-to-date knowledge base.
  • Growing and developing a safety training customer base.
  • Working with County Farm Bureaus as directed.
  • Traveling to agricultural sites on a consistent basis to deliver safety training in a manner that aligns with the preferences and effectiveness desired by the farm.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Spanish.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, complemented by proficiency in effective adult training methodologies.
  • Possession of essential professional trainer certifications, such as Worker Protection Standard (WPS) Trainer or the ability to secure necessary certifications.
  • Proficiency in the operation of agricultural equipment, including but not limited to tractors with PTO, forklifts, cartridge and hooded respirators, chemical spraying equipment, etc.
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision, ensuring the timely completion of tasks within budget constraints.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, insurable by OFB’s insurance carrier.

Tillamook County Health Department is seeking a Masters-level or Bachelors-level intern to support the Tillamook County Health Department’s health coalition, Tillamook County Wellness.  This position will partner with the Environmental Health and Emergency Preparedness committee in addressing 3 priority areas of work: indoor air quality, disaster and evacuation readiness, and extreme weather events.

The committee will be working on these priority areas over the next 2 years starting in January.  January 2026 through June 2026 will primarily be focused on building resources in all three priority areas that can be utilized for public education and incorporation into public health programs.

The successful candidate will help in the searching for and development of materials such as flyers, social media, and website content in the 3 priority areas.   This person may also attend virtual community meetings and other applicable educational opportunities as it relates to this project.

The timeframe for this work is January 2026-June 2026. 

Work will be completed remotely with regular scheduled check-ins via the Teams meeting platform with the Public Health Deputy Director.
