Apply at: BCSP Scholarship. Application window closes: October 3, 2024.

BCSP is pleased to support young, aspiring safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) professionals pursuing their education. Qualified students attending a BCSP Qualified Academic Program (QAP) can apply for a $5,000.00 scholarship to offset expenses related to their pursuit of an SH&E degree. Up to 40 students will be chosen to receive a scholarship.

Note** Oregon State University’s Environmental & Occupational Health (EOH) program is a QAP.

Guidelines

All completed applications will enter an initial review process by BCSP staff. Should questions arise or further documentation be necessary, candidates will need to respond to inquiries in a timely manner or the application will be deemed ineligible. The Scholarship Review Committee will determine the merit of each application in accordance with grant-making policies and procedures. BCSP will award forty (40) scholarship recipients. Scholarship awardees will be notified no later than November 29, 2024, via the email provided in the Submittable platform. Should this date change, all applicants will be notified. 

At this time, BCSP is only accepting applications from US-based QAPs.

Submission Criteria:

  1. In order to apply, you must be a Junior, Senior, or Master’s student enrolled in a BCSP Qualified Academic Program (QAP). The QAP program must be a US-based program (OSU’s EOH program is a QAP).
  2. The applicant must have a minimum of 3.25 GPA
  3. The student must be currently enrolled in a full-time program. 
  • Generally, full-time undergrad programs are 12 credit hours min, and graduate programs are 9 credit hours min. Please confirm with your university/academic institution for full-time qualifications. When applying, your academic enrollment will be confirmed via the submitted transcript.

      4. Submit two essays: 

  • 1) “How did safety become your career interest” A minimum of 250 words per essay.
  • 2) “How do you plan to advance SH&E practice within your chosen industry?” A minimum of 450 words per essay.

      5. Commit to obtaining the GSP upon graduation and applying for the CSP upon the earliest date of eligibility. (If you have the CSP certification, you are still eligible for the scholarship). Note: The application requires a transcript on file. An unofficial transcript is allowed for the application, however, if you are chosen as an awardee, an official transcript will be requested.
