Job Description
Summary: The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist II role supports a variety of environmental and health/safety activities at the Bend, Oregon site. These activities support employee safety, health, and regulatory compliance for OSHA and DEQ requirements.
Essential Functions: Safety related duties include:
- Assists in selection and use of respiratory protection, protective clothing, hearing protection and safety glasses.
- Support or lead incident investigations.
- Support or drive risk assessments and job hazard assessments.
- EHS audit support (internal and external).
- Completion and review of EHS corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Transfer of materials between facilities.
Health related duties include:
- Supports Industrial Hygiene (IH) assessments on existing products and processes and evaluates technologies to improve containment.
- Supports respiratory protection program and fit testing
Environmental related duties include:
- Hazardous waste management including coordination with waste management vendors, organization and tracking of waste manifests, transfer of satellite waste to 90-day waste locations, and general support for all teams on site.
- Forklift operation for transfer of solvent and waste containers.
- Completion of required annual reporting.
- Monitors and ensures compliance for all required site EHS permitting. Flexible to perform alternating or rotating shift work (as the need arises). Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required; BS in related field with proven experience preferred
Experience:
2+ years of previous EHS experience
2+ years of Chemical, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical work experience
Experience with RCRA and DEQ regulations preferred
Equivalency:
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and meaningful work experience may be considered.

Able to work in a fast-pace environment. Previous experience conducting presentations / training. High integrity for dealing with confidential information. Demonstrated professionalism. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Physical Requirements:
Walk, sit, or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including industrial hygiene sampling equipment. Required to lift up to 50 lbs. Regular need to attend to and decipher sensory input that requires diligence and attention to interpret effectively.
