  4. The Mary Bell case is a chilling and complex story of two young girls involved in the murders of two young children in Newcastle, England, in 1968. At just 10 years old, Mary Bell strangled four-year-old Martin Brown, and later, she and her friend Norma Joyce Bell were implicated in the strangulation and brutal mutilation of three-year-old Brian Howe. Despite initial confusion and dismissals by the police, further investigation led to the charges of manslaughter for both girls. The case remains one of the most disturbing examples of juvenile crime in history.
