On Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10, JSTOR will be performing site maintenance that requires a “read-only” period for these two days. During this scheduled maintenance, users will be able to search, browse, and access and download PDF files for content in JSTOR. They will not be able to save citations, reset passwords, create or update MyJSTOR accounts, or purchase articles.
Trial Database: World Bank eLibrary
The World Bank eLibrary is the World Bank’s collection of 6,000+ books, reports, journals, and working papers including:
- Development Outreach, World Bank Economic Review and World Bank Research Observer journal articles published since 1996
- Development Economics (DEC) policy research working papers published since 1995
- e-books and reports (dating as far as the 1970’s in some cases) plus all new formal publications upon release
All content can be viewed online and downloaded free of DRM (with the exception of a watermark).
This OSU Trial runs through 10/31/2011.

Trial Database: Govistics
Govistics is the U.S.’s most comprehensive cost of government database, specializing in local government finance. Govistics contains a decade of spending data across 8 major categories (e.g. education, public safety, social services) and 33 subcategories (e.g. K-12 education, police, welfare) for 39,000 state, county, and local governments. Govistics also contains detailed spending data for 15,000 school districts, and its graphical interface helps users track, compare, and contextualize spending. The data is harmonized, allowing users to perform “apples to apples” comparisons across state and county lines. Users can also download a customized spreadsheet for further analysis.
This OSU Trial runs through 9/25/2011.

Now Available: IEEE-Wiley eBooks Library
Through the use of gift funds, the OSU Libraries are pleased to announce that the campus has access to the entire IEEE eBook backlist through 2011 (over 400 titles). The Wiley-IEEE eBooks collection spans numerous content areas including Bioengineering, Power & Energy and Communication technologies, among other growing areas of research. Individual chapters are available in PDF format. Books are discoverable within the IEEE Xplore digital library alongside articles on related topics.
Reaxys Now Available
Reaxys contains the most relevant reaction and substance data from journals and patent literature. Information on single- and multi-step reactions is deeply indexed and complemented by a synthesis planner to fulfill criteria applicable to a research chemist’s needs.
- Reaxys contains experimental reaction and substance data extracted from trusted literature dating back to 1771, not available elsewhere
- Reaxys includes a synthesis planner allowing researchers to identify and combine selected reaction steps to generate the most effective synthesis strategy.
- It uses “chemistry as organizing principle”: clearly laid out substance or reaction profiles reducing time to get to the relevant results.
- Experimental procedure texts from patent literature reduce the need to go to the original document
- Intelligent filter and ranking tools allow researchers to find the “best” hits from this extensive source fast.
- With Reaxys you can link directly to full-text documents (journals and patents) to enable further exploration of all the scientific literature
- Multiple formats allow to export results, merge with other data or share data with colleagues (DOC, PDF, XLS, SD, RD, RIS, EndNote/Reference Manager).
- Commercial availability flags have direct links to chemical directories: synthesize or buy, whichever is more efficient.
For assistance with the Reaxys database, please contact your subject librarian or Laurel Kristick, the Chemistry Librarian – 541-737-7276; laurel.kristick@oregonstate.edu.

Geobase: No Longer Available
Geobase (an Elsevier database) is no longer available at Oregon State University. For many years OSU Libraries were able to provide access to this database through a provider that charged a set price on a per search basis. That access is no longer being offered. Subscribing to Geobase through Elsevier is not possible due to the increased price.
Please contact Andrea Wirth (andrea.wirth@oregonstate.edu) if you have questions about alternatives to Geobase.
