Catherine Liggett, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures

German instructor Catherine Liggett captivates students and conveys key course concepts with a series of video lectures — which she calls “Hammer Grammar” — recorded with easy-to-use software called Camtasia. Each video presents a topic in German grammar and employs doodles and humor to make it entertaining as well as highly effective.

Catherine has been a full-time German Instructor at Oregon State University since 2010. She completed a BA in Philosophy from Reed College in 2006, taught English in Innsbruck and Salzburg, Austria, for two years, and then earned an MA in German from the University of Oregon in 2010. In her free time, she practices and teaches Vinyasa yoga and social dance, and plays with new media.
