Safety Intern/Co-op – Florida or California

Walsh is currently seeking a Safety Intern for our I-95 Interchange Project in Daytona, FL  for our Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project in Los Angeles, CA. This will be a paid position and we will offer housing assistance as well.

 Responsibilities:

The Safety Intern will support and work with the on-site safety manager and safety staff to promote and manage Walsh Safety Programs. The Safety Intern position will be for a minimum of a 12 weeks. The Safety Intern will learn about multiple career paths in our company, and will be trained to become a full-time employee after college graduation. Some duties and responsibilities include:

  • Participate in field safety walks
  • Help safety manager with first day safety orientations for new employees
  • Complete accident and incident reports
  • Oversee safety and health of personnel working on company jobsites
  • Help safety manager coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors, ensuring company safety policies and procedures are understood and implemented

 Qualifications:

  • Seeking a 4-year degree in Occupational Safety & Health
  • Safety internship experience is a plus
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines
