EBL is experiencing technical difficulties due to a fault at their hosting facility. This fault is affecting access to both the Online Reader and to Download functionality in all locations.

The Encyclopedia of Inland Waters contains over 240 individual articles covering various broad topics including properties of water hydrologic cycles, surface and groundwater hydrology, hydrologic balance, lakes of the world, rivers of the world, light and heat in aquatic ecosystems, hydrodynamics and mixing in rivers, reservoirs, and lakes, biological integration among inland aquatic ecosystems, pollution and remediation, and conservation and management of inland aquatic ecosystems.
OSU Libraries has acquired 3 new electronic book collections from Springer:
These collections join the Computer Science collection acquired earlier this year. Each collection includes titles published between 2005-2009; titles that are part of OSU Libraries’ collection are marked with a green square next to the title.
The 19th Century British Pamphlet Collection, created by RLUK (Research Libraries UK), contains the most significant British pamphlets from the 19th century held in UK research libraries. Pamphlets were an important means of public debate, covering the key political, social, technological, and environmental issues of their day. They have been underutilized within research and teaching because they are generally quite difficult to access – often bound together in large numbers or otherwise hard to find in the few research libraries that hold them. The digitization of more than 20,000 pamphlets from seven UK institutions will provide researchers, students, and teachers with an immensely rich and coherent corpus of primary sources with which to study the socio-political and economic landscape of 19th century Britain. This collection was created with funding from the JISC Digitisation Programme.
The 19th Century British Pamphlets collection is now freely accessible to all JSTOR participating institutions through June 30, 2009.
The collection includes Cowen Tracts (1603-1898), Hume Tracts (1769-1890) and the Knowlsley Pamphlet Colletion (1792-1868)
OSU Libraries has set up a trial of the 2009 Springer E-book Collection. This trial will run through April 30, 2009. During the trial, Oregon State University faculty, staff and students will be able to browse and access over 25,000 E-book titles published by Springer between 2005 and the present. Visitors will have access to these books from the public computers in the library.

We are pleased to let you know that the OSU Libraries are conducting a trial of ACLS Humanities E-Book. The trial will run through June 30, 2008.
This electronic resource includes 1700 full-text, cross-searchable books in the humanities selected for their continuing importance to students and scholars. In summer 2008, and every year thereafter, HEB will be adding 500 titles to the collection.
The project includes both in-print and out-of print books and adds 500 titles a year. It is a collaboration of the American Council of Learned Societies, various constituent members of the ACLS and nearly 95 publishers.
Areas include: Comparative/World, Africa, America, Asia, Latin America, Europe (Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, and Modern), the Middle East, Byzantium and the Mediterranean, and Australasia/Oceania, plus Women’s studies, of the Native Peoples of the Americas, and history of Economics, Science and Technology, Archaeology, Art History, Folklore, Religion, Musicology, and Political Science.

OSU Libraries has acquired two new electronic reference books through the Gale Virtual Reference Library.
The Complete Dictionary of Scientific Biography is a new edition of the classic reference title Dictionary of Scientific Biography. it provides information on the history of science through articles on the professional lives of scientists. All periods of science from classical antiquity to modern times are represented.
The Biographical Encyclopedia of the Modern Middle East and North Africa illuminates the lives of the most influential and controversial figures in the Middle East and North Africa who came to prominence during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Includes profiles of contemporary leaders who belong to various political, ethnic, and religious groups, as well as notable individuals associated with business, law, science, social issues, sports, entertainment, literature, and the fine and performing arts.
