The results of this program affect the entire University student body, faculty, and staff.This position will assist departments in occupational safety & health assessments for office, field, shop, construction, agricultural, non-laboratory areas, and laboratory areas; This position will perform regular incident/accident follow-ups, provide respirator fit testing, perform ergonomic evaluations, help advise departments on issues of environmental health and safety, and respond to campus emergencies upon request of their supervisor.

Key Responsibilities(40%) OSU SAFETY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM & EH&S AUDITS:
Using established procedures, assist departments in implementing the OSU Safety Management Program and other health and safety programs. Assistance includes, but is not limited to, performing audits, assessing hazards, investigating reports of unsafe conditions, conducting safety training, and developing safety documents and resources. Frequent visits to laboratory and non-laboratory settings where hazardous materials are stored and used will be required.
(30%) ACCIDENT FOLLOW UP & RESPIRATOR FIT TESTING: Assist program manager with accident follow up investigations and respirator fit testing. Assistance within these programs may include audits or inspections, records maintenance, performing service calls, equipment maintenance, monitoring workplace safety, investigating health concerns, and training.
(15%) OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY PROGRAM & SUBPROGRAMS: Under general guidance and supervision, work within occupational safety subprogram areas such as confined space, lock-out tag out, ergonomics and fall protection, by applying established departmental SOPs and other guidance documents to workplace environments and for members of the OSU community.(15%) Perform other duties as assigned. Acquire and maintain training appropriate to job role.
What We RequireA Bachelor’s degree with primary focus (45 quarter hours or 32 semester hours) in the physical sciences; OR An Associate’s degree in the science field and two years of related experience; OR A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or professional certifications.
Preference may be given to applicants who have completed graduate-level courses or have additional experience in Industrial Hygiene, or in occupational, public, or environmental programs.
Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses.

Work environment is varied and includes, but is not limited to shop, agricultural, field, office, animal facilities, industrial sites, laboratories, hazardous material storage facilities, or fresh water/marine settings.

This position will collect, transport, and process hazardous, universal, and biological waste. Assist the hazardous waste program lead in maintaining compliance with state and federal hazardous waste management regulations. Support the operation and maintenance of the EH&S Annex waste management facility. Provide support to hazardous materials shipping program. Support EH&S emergency action plans including spill cleanup and remediation. This position requires mandatory training to include HAZWOPER, DOT, RCRA, and other department required training.
