Position Description
The Department of Industrial Engineering in the J. B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville (UofL) seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor Faculty position in the general area of ergonomics and human factors engineering, including, but not limited to, the following: occupational ergonomics and human performance, human-robot interaction, and healthcare human factors. The occupant of this position is expected to conduct a robust and sustainable funded research program in one or more of the areas listed above while contributing to departmental teaching and service goals. Department Information
The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) has been a degree granting department since the late 1970s. IE currently has 8 tenured or tenure-track faculty and 3 term faculty with the following research thrusts: operations research and decision analytics, human factors and ergonomics, and advanced manufacturing. Faculty research has been supported by a variety of federal grants and industry contracts (e.g., NSF, DoD, ONR, NIST, NASA, FHWA, Toyota, GE Appliances/Haier). Further, the department has extensive interdisciplinary collaborations across several units at UofL, including Arts and Sciences, Social Work, Medicine, and Public Health, as well as with the other seven departments within the Speed School of Engineering.

Department Summary
The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department (ISE) at SJSU has established a firm goal to provide a high-quality education to its students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department offers classroom instruction by the best-qualified faculty, hands-on experience in industry-sponsored state-of-the-art laboratories, and opportunities for industry internships. The Department has over 200 undergraduate and 340 graduate students.

Required Qualifications
The department invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (with tenure). An earned Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related Engineering discipline is required. The department is recruiting in all areas of human factors, human computer interface, and/or user experience. It is preferred that the candidates research area addresses either the domain of Social Robotics and Human-Robotic Technology Relations and/or Health Equity and Health Infrastructures but all domain areas of human factors will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants holding at least one degree in Industrial Engineering. Responsibilities
The person selected for this faculty position will be responsible for teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, providing leadership for the department’s graduate programs in Human Factors, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or Engineering Management, advising students including master’s projects and theses, and developing a research program related to his/her field of interest. In addition, the appointee will actively participate in strengthening the present ties between the ISE Department and its surrounding high-tech industries and will embark on establishing new connections with high tech companies. Additionally, the appointee will participate in department and college committee assignments and in other activities that connect the ISE Department to the College of Engineering and the rest of the campus. Candidate will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committee and other service assignments. The Division serves as the focal point for traumatic injury control research at NIOSH which is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a tenure track full-time faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the area of Ergonomics and Musculoskeletal Health. The position will be housed in the College of Medicine, Department of Medicine, at the Canadian Centre for Health and Safety in Agriculture (CCHSA). The successful candidate will be expected to establish and grow a research program in ergonomics and musculoskeletal health in the context of the Mission and Vision of the Canadian Centre for Health and Safety in Agriculture (www.cchsa.usask.ca). CCHSA is home to a remarkable ergonomics lab with capacity to study musculoskeletal hazards and health in agriculture and other industries. The 70 square-meter Ergonomics Laboratory facility at the CFI-funded National Agricultural Industrial Hygiene Laboratory (NAIHL) within CCHSA provides access to equipment for vibration simulation and kinematic assessments of simulated work: 6-degree-of-freedom programmable robotic platform to safely simulate occupational whole body vibration; a 10-camera Vicon motion capture system; 60cm x 90cm integrated force platform; electromyography suite; and Novel Pedar foot pressure sensors. In addition, the lab has a well-appointed complement of measurement equipment appropriate for field investigations such as electromyography, goniometry, inertial sensors, hand-arm vibration, whole-body vibration, and force. The successful candidate would be expected to lead this laboratory and develop and expand their research program in ergonomics and musculoskeletal health with this capacity in mind, but not necessarily limited to it depending on research opportunities and interests. In addition to a leading research program, the candidate will be expected to: secure external research funding; work collaboratively with members from CCHSA, the Department of Medicine, and other units on campus; supervise postdoctoral fellows and graduate students; and contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD and / or MD degree or equivalent, postdoctoral research experience, have a demonstrated or emerging record of research productivity, demonstrate interest and ability to engage in scholarly activity, and be committed to undergraduate and graduate education. Candidates must have strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. Previous experience in ergonomics and musculoskeletal health-related research in a rural or agricultural context is an asset but not necessary.

Current salary bands at the University of Saskatchewan are as follows: Assistant Professor – $96,301 – $115,723; Associate Professor – $115,723 – $135,145 and Professor – $135,145 – $157,804.
