A student survey conducted last year recognized a number of faculty as “student favorites.” We’ve invited a few of them to join a panel discussion to share their strategies for delivering exciting and effective learning online.

Dr. Kevin Ahern is a Senior Instructor of Biochemistry/Biophysics at OSU, a position he has held since 1995. In 2012, Kevin was appointed as OSU’s first Director for Undergraduate Research.  Born and raised in rural Illinois, Kevin received his Ph.D. from OSU in 1986 and spends his free time working on novel approaches of teaching the subject of biochemistry
Dr. Nicole Duplaix is an Instructor at OSU’s Department of Fisheries and Wildlife. She received her master’s and doctorate degrees in Biology and Ecology from the University of Paris. She has studied otters and explored river systems worldwide for 35 years and now conducts otter research and conservation in Asia and South America.  She is the founder and Chair of the IUCN-SSC Otter Specialist Group – which focuses on global otter conservation. She is a long-time contract photographer for the National Geographic Society’s Image Collection.
Bob Ehrhart has been teaching OSU distance courses since 1999 (pre-dating E-campus), when he became the first program lead for the Natural Resources (NR) distance program. He has taught more than 1,100 students in six different distance courses. He also served as the distance advisor to all NR distance students between 1999 and 2005. Now “semi-retired,” he continues to teach RNG 353 (Wildland Plant Identification), RNG 355 (Desert Watershed Management), RNG 455 (Riparian Ecology and Management, and RNG 490 (Rangeland Management Planning) from McMinnville, Oregon. He has also taught these courses from Bend, Oregon, Stevensville, Montana, and Silver City, New Mexico.
