Michelle Kappes is an Assistant Professor – Senior Research in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, where she studies animal movement and behavior, with a primary focus on seabird foraging ecology, marine habitat use, and energetics. She has been instructing Ecampus courses since 2011, and was able to apply her previous research experience on Antarctic penguins to the development of a new online course on Antarctic Science and Conservation, which first launched in fall 2012. She is interested in strategies to integrate active research into curriculum development and teaching approaches to promote critical thinking skills.
Stephanie has been teaching full-time at Oregon State University since 2001 as well as teaching ecampus courses since 2004. She completed her BA at Linfield College and then earned an MS in Mathematics from Oregon State University. Stephanie’s main area of research is Mathematics Education and she has developed curriculum for both on-campus and online courses. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her one year old daughter and husband.
