Start Date: January 1st, 2019 (negotiable); 1-year contract with the possibility of renewal

Posted: August 1, 2019

Description: A post-doctoral fellowship is available in a dynamic, rapidly expanding university-based research environment with a team of epidemiologists, biostatisticians and exposure experts. The core activity for this position relate to the refinement of an existing research tool to allow for sex-specific occupational exposure assessment (Principle Investigator: Dr. Vikki Ho). Specifically, we propose to create a female specific job-exposure matrix (JEM) based on the methodology used in the development of the Canadian Job-Exposure Matrix (CANJEM), a newly developed JEM built from expert evaluations of over 30,000 jobs held by about 9,000 men and women. From the female data available in CANJEM, we will create a portrait of occupational exposures experienced by working women in Quebec. The Fellow will be expected to collaborate with other research staff to lead the statistical analyses and to prepare manuscripts for publications. There are also opportunities to collaborate on other research projects at various stages including grant application, study design, data analysis and manuscript writing.

Duration and Location of Appointment: The position is available for one year; applicants will be supported in their application to other sources of funding to extend their fellowship beyond one year. This fellowship is funded by IRSST and the stipend is $42,500 (partially tax-exempt). The locale, Montreal, is the most cosmopolitan and affordable big city in North America. Required Qualifications Applicants must have completed a PhD in Epidemiology, Occupational Health or a closely related area. Candidates should have relevant experience in the area of environment and/or cancer epidemiology, have a good record of publication and show skills in advanced statistical programming with management of SAS, R or STATA. Fellows are required to apply for CIHR fellowship funding during the first year.
