Position Description

The Department of Industrial Engineering in the J. B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville (UofL) seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor Faculty position in the general area of ergonomics and human factors engineering, including, but not limited to, the following: occupational ergonomics and human performance, human-robot interaction, and healthcare human factors. The occupant of this position is expected to conduct a robust and sustainable funded research program in one or more of the areas listed above while contributing to departmental teaching and service goals. Collaboration with government and industry, along with the wide array of centers and institutes, including the Center for Ergonomics (https://engineering.louisville.edu/research/centersinstitutes/centerforergonomics/), is expected. Department Information

The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) has been a degree granting department since the late 1970s. IE currently has 8 tenured or tenure-track faculty and 3 term faculty with the following research thrusts: operations research and decision analytics, human factors and ergonomics, and advanced manufacturing. Faculty research has been supported by a variety of federal grants and industry contracts (e.g., NSF, DoD, ONR, NIST, NASA, FHWA, Toyota, GE Appliances/Haier). Further, the department has extensive interdisciplinary collaborations across several units at UofL, including Arts and Sciences, Social Work, Medicine, and Public Health, as well as with the other seven departments within the Speed School of Engineering.

The department offers ABET-accredited BS and MEng degrees, along with MS and PhD degrees in Industrial Engineering, an MEng degree in Engineering Management Online (MEEMO), and an MEng degree in Engineering Management in Panama (MEngEMP). Position Description:

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the interdisciplinary Department of Public Health. We seek an active and engaged colleague who has research and teaching strengths in environmental health and justice (interests may include, but are not limited to, built environments, neighborhood effects, climate justice, sustainability, disaster preparedness, etc.). We encourage applications from persons with experience conducting community-based research serving particularly vulnerable, underserved, and urban populations.

Candidates should have substantive scholarly expertise in one or more defined areas and be able to develop collaborative research efforts in the metropolitan Detroit area. We seek a colleague with an active research program, track record of published scholarship, and an ability to draw on this research to inform their teaching and service. Candidates engaged in multidisciplinary research, community-based research collaborations, and environmental justice and advocacy research are encouraged to apply. We also value candidates committed to evidence-based intervention research employing traditional and non-traditional quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g., ethnography, Photovoice, and mixed methods).

Candidates will be expected to teach required courses in the undergraduate public health curriculum. The preferred candidate will have teaching strengths that support courses such as Environmental Health, Methodological Approaches in Public Health, and Social and Behavioral Aspects of Public Health. Candidates will also be encouraged to develop new elective courses
that align with their substantive area of expertise within environmental health and justice.

Candidates are also expected to perform meaningful service on department, college, and university committees; participate in departmental activities; serve their profession/discipline and/and community partners (if appropriate); and complete other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a Ph.D., DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree with expertise in environmental health, environmental sciences, environmental justice, or closely related social/behavioral science. Persons who will have their doctoral degree conferred by August 15, 2021 are eligible to apply. Candidates who additionally possess an MPH degree in any public health discipline are highly valued. About the opportunity: The newly formed School of Clinical and Rehabilitation Sciences within the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University invites applicants for an open-rank tenure/tenure track position starting August 2021. Job Summary

The City of Salem is looking to provide an opportunity for two Wastewater Treatment Plant Interns to gain hands on work experience in the operation of the city’s two wastewater plants, Willow Lake Water Pollution Control Facility and the River Road Peak Wet Weather Treatment Facility.

Willow Lake is the primary treatment facility for the City with a dry weather secondary treatment capacity of 65 mgd, a wet weather secondary treatment capacity of 95 mgd, and a peak wet weather capacity of 155 mgd.  It can be operated in trickling filter/activated sludge, conventional air activated sludge and in a combination of both processes plus selective treatment based on flow and load fluctuations. 

The River Road Peak Wet Weather Treatment Facility is a high rate, physical chemical ballasted flocculation facility with ultra-violet disinfection.  This facility is operated only when flows at the Willow Lake Facility are above 95 mgd.  Operation of this remote facility is permitted for use to prevent sanitary sewer overflows associated with wet weather.

The City’s treatment facilities serve a population equivalent of 229,000 within a three city area with an average annual flow of 45 mgd.  The facility staff of 53 employees provide Operations, Maintenance, Laboratory, Biosolids, and Administrative Services for both facilities.
