US States Regulation on Poker

If there is one card game that everybody loves right now, it is poker. This is a game that has taken off in recent years and in particular, the most popular variation is Texas Hold’em. In general, more people are choosing to gamble online than ever before. So, the natural progression is that people want to play poker from the comfort of their own homes.

But, we all know that the law can be complicated when it comes to casino games and gambling online. In particular, each state has their own rules and regulations and this applies for poker too. Oregon

There are some states that do not make it clear when it comes to online poker. Certainly, Oregon is one of them. For example, it is stated that it is illegal to operate an online poker room. But, the law is less clear when it comes to playing poker online. There are physical poker rooms you can visit. But, when it comes to online play, it is best to stay away from this. Nevada

If there is one state that you probably expected online poker to be made legal, then it is Nevada. The home of Las Vegas means that the state is very flexible and free when it comes to online gambling. Indeed, players can enjoy online poker in Nevada and from the comfort of their own home. You just have to make sure that you are playing at a website that has been given a license by Nevada gaming regulators.

Illinois

Unfortunately, if you are someone that likes to play poker in Illinois, you are going to be disappointed. It is not legal to play poker online in the state if you are playing for real money. However, it appears that you can play social games and sweepstakes poker, as well as playing poker in-person. The legalization of poker has been discussed in Illinois. But, there are yet to be any changes made. For example, bills were passed a few years ago, but they did not get any further.

Connecticut

One of the newest states to offer online poker to its citizens is Connecticut. This activity was made legal in May 2021 after a law was signed by Governor Ned Lamont. This was an important law that meant that gamers could enjoy casino games, as well as poke, online whenever they wanted to. Indeed, this is going to make the state a lot of money and it will be a smart move for the future where people want to gamble from home.
