As graduate students, we can apply for what is known as a Travel & Expense (T&E) card.

The Travel and Expense (T&E) Card is available to eligible university employees to pay for allowable travel expenses incurred while on official university business and for the acquisition of goods or services supporting university operations. An important caveat is that these cards may not be used for personal purchases, unauthorized transactions or shared with another individual and there must be an index associated with the card.
